As most of us die-hard football fans know Florida, Texas, and California lead the way in state figures for the number of recruits signed by D-1 colleges. Also, we know the recruiting hot beds are in the southeastern part of the country.
This article pointed out the facts about how schools that recruit close to home have some of the best winning percentages.
One statement that I liked was that USC makes it a point to go to every single high school in California that plays football. It was over 1,050!
They do this to make sure they have the best chance to get the Top players within their home state by making an appearance to show everyone that they are out there and interested.
Does UL go to every single high school to recruit players? It doesn't seem to me that they would.....but it seems like it may help and surely there aren't over 1,000 schools to visit in Louisiana.
Yes, I know the best ones are going to go to LSU and other surrounding SEC and Big 12 schools first, but we should do our best to get the best players in Louisiana. I'm not trying to beat the same dead horse, but I think we should at least attempt to visit the majority of schools.
I know that many Louisiana kids don't have the grades and that we have been able to find some very nice talent in Texas and Florida. (we should continue to do so)
I saw some effort trying to get local kids this season like the RB from Cecilia and the WR from STM....but they feel like there oportunity is better elsewhere and that is fine. Let's continue to do the good work and make our presence felt by visiting EVERY school!! If USC does it, why can't we?
