I went to the Southern University vs Jackson State University game last year on October 4, 2008 and took a couple of pictures of the Southern fan base. This game was in Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi and it's a horse shoe shaped stadium it was standing room only. These guys are serious about following their football team! That's their band in the second picture walking up the ramp with the gold capes. It will be a good and exciting game.
Play McNeese..... pack the house.... great tailgaiting and enviornment

Yet our "brain trust" would rather play a I-AA from Alabama or some other region than to "lower" ourselves to playing these guys.... Sort of what I rant about when it comes to a&m@br...
Guys IF you are going to bring in a I-AA (and yes I do know there is another name for those schools now), why not these two.... I am looking forward to the Southern game at least as much as the McNeese game....
It's going to be a great atmosphere. The most we've ever had in Cajun Field was 38k against aTm. I think we did 36k against Alabama. I was at both, and couldn't really tell how you could get another soul in the place. When you consider every seat filled and the endzone grass pretty well covered... I seriously doubt we can do more than 40k (if allowed).
I forgot what the McNeese game had... but also remember them cutting off ticket sales at the gate long before we had the grass end zones filled (couldn't quite understand that thinking)... but I can see Southern being at least as much... especially for a home opener and with the great travelers the Jaguar Nation brings. We had better be fully prepared for a huge crowd.
I like that we have some BCS teams coming to the Swamp. The bad thing is, if we end up beating one of them, they will never come back like the rest of em.
Damn, UL is hosting both KSU and OSU in the two upcoming seasons? No offense, that is just a bit surprising. When is the last time UL had a team of this caliber visit Lafayette? Any since A&M?
That's sweet. Good luck on taking down KSU next year! Games like this should really help generate some interest around the program.
Ok St, Texas Tech and Minnesota were at Cajun Field since Tex A&M. Trouble is we didn't have the players to play them like we had when A&M was here.
Miss St and Wash St both pooped out of return games after we played them at their places. I sure wish we had gotten a hold of both of them in '08.
