One of my all-time favorite classes was a creative writing course I took with what I still think was one of the very BEST professors there: Dr. Darrell Bourque.

Let's not forget the late Dr. David Thibedaux, He was one hell of a great teacher.
And look at the writers who have come through: Ernest Gaines (member, American Academy of Arts & Letters, National Critics' Circle Award, Macarthur "Genius" Grant), John Kennedy Toole (posthumous Pulitzer, for a book with characters for which UL faculty are models), best-selling author James Lee Burke, and now Rikki Ducornet (LA Times Book of the Year, Kellogg Award, and numerous others).
And don't forget, we also have Abdelhak Serhane... no one's ever heard of him, because he writes in French.
He writes about North Africa, and is considered a major writer throughout the Francophone world.
A lot of people think Maurice Duquesnay was the model for Ignatius.
It was actually Bob Byrne.
Pat Rickles thought she was the model for the (neurotic left-wing) girlfriend...
