I was under the impression, at the time, that Evans' contract was up. And, I also remember that both parties declined to negotiate an extension prior to his last season here, because neither wanted to continue the relationship. In fact, I also seem to remember that the two parties were in contract negotiations when Evans took the SF job.

So, I don't think that there was anything left on his primary contract. Could be mistaken though.

So your assertion is that he had a contrct to be our coach for a specified salary but even though he decided to quit UL was still obligated to pay him? I don't think so.

Nice spin but in your original post you intimated that UL was unable to buy out Lee because it was cash strapped due to the alleged Evans buyout (false) and the added burden of paying off the Baldwin lawsuit (wrong again). As for the premiums they come from state money. If we use your view of it and take it to its logical conculsion every citizen in the state of Louisiana including Jerry Baldwin paid a portion of the premiums so every citizen including Jerry Baldwin paid the settlement.

You're a Mississippi State grad? Exhibit A that Louisiana will never have to worry being ranked last in education.

How anyone could spend 3-4 years in Starkville is beyond me...

First, to bballholic... Skip Bertman was quoted as saying "Starkville is Indian for trailer park". I thought that was a classic.

To our new friend from Mississippi State who likes UL, likes Robert Lee as a coach... someone put it pretty well when they pointed out to you that in coming to the unfortunate situation that Robert Lee is not working out at our basketball helm, we in no way have to make a choice between either Lee (equivalent) or Evans (equivalent). There are a whole lot of other options.

I do believe Robert Lee is a good person, and regardless of whether he is or is not a good Xs and Os coach... he has not been able to apply that ability successfully. At UL, with basketball, there is little excuse that we cannot have both a coach that can coach and recruit, run a clean program, and provide us 3 out of 4 years of a run at a conference championship, an NIT or NCAA bid. And yes... we will have to pay better.

Robert Lee pains me. I think he wants success for his UL team as bad as anyone out there. He doesn't strike me as arrogant, nor lacking in desire. He was hired and expected to win at least to the level the program is capable. He is a good person... in my opinion... but we are not a charity system for likeable coaches who cannot win. That goes for all of them.

No doubt, Bertman was always good for a funny quote concerning Starkville. Him and Polk are obviously great friends, so it was always in good fun. Hell, even Smoke got into the action when it came to ripping Starkville with the quote below.

"Who's the loneliest man in Starkville? The Tooth Fairy."

Dude I graduated from Mississippi State in Engineering. Our Engineering school is in the Top Ten in the Nation in Engineering. There is a golden road for failures that transfer from my school to easier schools all over the nation. No Engineering school in Louisiana can compare to Miss State. That's why I went out of state for school. Like I told Fofo or whatever his name is, if you want to line up education wise against me, YOU WILL LOSE. Guaranteed! Better yet let's line up Mississippi State Engineering grads vs UL Lafayette Engineering grads and see who's last between the two in education?

Time to let it go and move on with your life! I've said what I needed to say.

First of all, you're extremely immature to be comparing "education" over a message board. And secondly, you may want to slow down bub.. I'm not going to take you to task; because honestly, it's just not worth my time. But Hammer will take a hot, steaming dump on whatever you have to say about "education", and so will a few others on here, namely 1more, zeph, metry, and HouGrad. Just giving a friendly warning..

    ding ding..

You right it is a pi$sing contest. It seems like it has come to that. I'm not the one upset. It seems like these guys are because it seems like nobody can state their opinion in here. Especially if their opinion is not the popular one. This is your school so do whatever you want to. It really dosen't matter to me. Like I say I am a fan just like everyone else.

It's not your opinions we're taking exception to. You're rubbing people the wrong way with your pompous attitude, and challenging responses.
You can state your opinion without being an A55 HOLE.
