Just what do people mean that we have good athletes? Does that mean they can run and dunk? Our guys have no basketball IQ, all they do is shoot 3 pointers and dunk. They have limited basketball skills, can't make 3 foot shots or simple layups, can't make free throws, can't make inbounds passes, can't run an offense, can't set screens. What can they do? Players with good basic basketball skills and a coach that properly uses those skills will beat us every time. That is why a team like WKU is so successful every year, even though they keep losing coaches to BCS schools. I only wish for a coach who runs a Princeton offense and recruits solid basketball players to play that style of game. Basketball has deteriorated to run & gun, 3 point shots and dunks. It sucks. In some ways, the 3 point shot has ruined the game because that is all players seem to want to take.

Being athletic and being basketball savvy are two completely different things. There is no way you can dispute the athleticism of this team. You can question alot of other things about this squad, but you have to leave that alone.
Destin I have still yet to realize your point in asking this question now for the 2nd time? Please let us know what you are thinking? I understand your getting a little old but you should be able to put a few thoughts together dont take me to serious on the last part just a little jab lol
So Reggie who exaclty is all that "athleltic"?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess it is determined by how you define "athletic". I define it by which persons have the tools to perform well at their particular athletic event. In basketball you have to be able to run and jump. Hence, people believing that the faster you run and the higher you jump the more athletic you are on the basketball court.
This is from what I saw with my own two eyes and my own opinion:
Lamar Roberson is very athletic
Tyren Johnson is very athletic
The Batiste kid is athletic
The Adeife kid is athletic
Laryan Gary is athletic
Willie Lago is athletic
This has nothing to do with how they play the game, but the tools they possess to become superior at their sport.
IMO Dwayne Mitchell was athletic. Brian Hamilton was athletic. Reggie DeGray was athletic. Bo McCaleb was athletic AND highly skilled. North Denton and UALR were athletic teams.
IMO Bureau, Daigle, Batiste and Johnson are not athletic. Gary and Gradnigo are marginally athletic. They can all play much better basketball than they have. Athletic players don't get knocked around like bowling pins or have the ball ripped from their grasp.
I actually attend games and I do not have the same opinion you do of our team. I have zero interest in seeing the Princeton offense in the Cajundome under any circumstances.
The 3 point shot was put into the college game actually to open things up inside and give perimeter players a role besides throwing the ball to inside players. If we had an effective inside presence like Barr was supposed to be and if our perimeter guys are making the 3 pointers the way they should be capable of doing, we would see less of them.
Thoughts: Let's pretend Barr really was the answer to our inside issues. Good defense, and great low post moves with a reliable 5 foot shot. Does anybody think he'd last a complete game? Honestly, the refs in the Belt are so bad I think they'd just call a foul on him anytime he looked at somebody.
*TWEET* "That guy's got huge arms! Technical!"
Barr's arms are bigger/longer than his body (ok not really, but..). I think that's why he's had trouble finding success. He can't get by using body moves, and has to make up for it by flailing those tree trunks everywhere. Regardless of whether or not there's a foul, you can bet it will get called.
It seems that in this league we may be better served with a big body guy down low. Have we recruited anybody fitting this description since Robert's been here? Asking because I can't think of any.
It doesn't look like we will ever get to find out but I can say he held his own in the Latex game against Rolle and Cooper. I thought we had something while watching him.
No, Coach Lee has not to my knowledge recruited a big body, down low player. They are tough to find so getting even a transfer is good - IF they produce. He needs to find big guys like Floyd did back at Uneaux.
