The future of Robert Lee

For once, I find myself on the outside of that optimism bubble. I usually like to think positive in these situations but with everything that has gone on and the recent issues with Jeremy Barr and the altercation that supposedly led to Roberson's indefinite suspension, I have to think that there is just no turning the corner for this team. I would love to be wrong but they haven't been on the same page but for one game all year (ULM) and I think Lee has lost the team.

Damn, things have to be getting HOT for Mr. Lee in Lafayette? It appears the team has quit on him, and hopefully that will be enough to get this guy out of town. There is too much talent for this team to get blasted like they did against N. Texas.

Hopefully these allegations of "talent" will be settled next season when we have a new coach.

If we all of a sudden win 19 games, then we'll have our answer. Honestly I believe that despite his best intentions, Lee has become a cancer to the team.

That being said, if Lee parts the Red Sea and wins the Sun Belt tournament, he will get to finish his contract.

_ I don't know you Bug but I respect your opinions. HOWEVER, we have no one like their Chris Johnson or Tasmin Mitchell. Plus, they have 3 battle hardened seniors who shoot well and handle the ball well. Our best guys are young and still maturing as players. They also need plenty of weight room work.

I agree. We are not as talented as LSU at this time. With Lee it probably wouldn't matter anyway. What a joke for a coach.

_ Your fear is my biggest fear about the program too. It seems like all the history from blackham and earlier Cajundome days have simply gone with the wind, thanks to one very bad coaching run. I have a hard time convincing myself to even care anymore, which is sad, but considering that the administration can't / will not make a coaching change even when there could not be more of an obvious need for one, why should the fans care anymore? Of course I still care, but if things don't change quickly re how the UL administration does not seem to care at all about holding major athletic programs up to any even slight standard of winning, there will be little fan base left. It seems that the current Cajuns bball team could win more games with no head coach at all than with Lee. I am just a casual fan, no expert by any means, but my instincts were straight away that Lee could not coach a lick, even while watching them almost beat Louisville in NCAAs his first year at the helm. If even a layperson like myself notices this, from far away in Miami no less, then how in the world could the administration not notice too? Why in the world was Lee given an extension when he had no leverage to ask for one, as no other program was beating down his door? Very sad state of affairs. If UL refuses to buy out Lee's contract, I don't see how more than 2000 or so people next year will be showing up for games until he is gone. _

Robert Lee is a decent coach and a great recruiter. I will stand up and defend him because he brought yall school out of a very bad situation that Jesse Evans left yall in. It's a shame that all yall care about is just winning. I know winning is a part of the sport but Lee has definately done it the right way. If yall want to go into the past then just go ahead and fire him and get another Jesse Evans that cheats, recruits knuckle headed transfer D1 athletes that won't be anything in life, and end up in the same situation UL Lafayette is coming out of. The players were so out of control when Evans was there the coaching staff had to follow these kids around to make sure they were going to class and out of trouble on Sat nights after games! Are you serious? Evans leaves and go to San Francisco and does the same knuckle headed recruiting and cheating which landed him in trouble with that university and the NCAA as well and he was forced to leave, but publically resigned to cover it up. So you reak what you sew fellas.

I also like your transfer quote. What about Roberson and Barr. Face it. Lee is terrible and has not moved the program forward.

Are we getting kudos from the media and basketball fans because our players are staying out of trouble off the court while we lose on the court? Show me a program that doesn't care about winning.

You present this as only having two roads to travel each being the extreme. There is a third road that most programs follow which is bring in kids of decent character who can also play the game. And of course, the coach has to be able to coach and motivate them to win.

Like I say before, reak what you sew! Go ahead and do what yall did before and see where it ends up. That's all I have to say and will not argue with you. This school is not an elite school and the NCAA will splatter your nuts against the wall if they catch yall slipping. Watch!! Let the man do his job and clean up your program.
