In the last decade, one could argue they have been one of the most successful athletic programs in the nation. They have been to the Final Four, BCS Championship game, and the College World Series. I know that Florida and LSU have also pulled off that feat, but I'm pretty sure there aren't a lot of other schools that can make that claim.
Apparently because our administration has refused to adequately fund and back the athletic department, metrycajun thinks that no other school in the country should be able to pump money into their system. Texas basketball hasn't won a national title lately (if ever?) but i would venture to guess their revenue in basketball alone is probably greater than that of our entire athletic program.
There are no parallels to draw between UT and UL. If Ray would have been president of UT over the last 30 years, Texas would have a program like LSU's. They would be "getting by" with 75 million athletic budgets. If we had UT's admins, we would have a program on USM's level.
Texas has a perfect storm of good fortune. Top notch academic University, wealthy state, and very wealthy alums. Good for them. I imagine you have ties to UT. I'm sorry if I offended. I'm just not a fan of the super-BCS teams.
Not sure where I said that. Texas is probably no worse than any other money grubbing BCS program. It just so happens they benefit from the current system more than anyone else.
Since I go to Houston often, I also got tired of Texas's whining about getting passed over in the BCS. Hearing Texas fans playing the role of victim was high comedy.
It's not Tea Fans, its Teasips, meant to be derrogatory. Aggies think Longhorns view themselves as elite and modified the Hook em Horns sign to sipping tea with the pinky held high like sipping tea in a dainty fashion. I could stand corrected on that, but it is my understanding. In any event, it is not used favorably when referring to a Texas Ex. Longhorns do not like to be called Teasips.
