  2. Ragin' Cajuns Louisiana, Tulsa Announce Home-And-Home Series

LOUISIANA - Officials from the University of Louisiana and the University of Tulsa announced on Thursday a home-and-home football series between the two institutions beginning in the 2017 season.

The series, which began in 1977, would resume with the Cajuns visiting Tulsa for a scheduled Sept. 9, 2017 contest at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The series would conclude on Sept. 28, 2019 with Louisiana hosting Tulsa at Cajun Field.

"We're excited to resume a football series against a school that has a great tradition in Tulsa," Louisiana Director of Athletics Scott Farmer said. "Our goal is to schedule home-and-home series against teams that our fans will enjoy watching, and Tulsa has had a history of success."

The teams have met nine times in school history with Louisiana holding a 5-4 lead in the all-time series. The last meeting between the schools was Oct. 31, 1992 with Tulsa earning a 27-9 victory over the visiting Cajuns.

"Tulsa is an outstanding football program that has enjoyed great success for a number of years," Louisiana head coach Mark Hudspeth said. "This will be a great head-to-head matchup against a quality non-conference opponent and it will create a very good environment when we play against each other at both universities."

Louisiana, which finished 9-4 and earned its third consecutive victory in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, will open the 2014 season at home on Aug. 30 against Southern University.

Season tickets are available by calling the Cajundome Box Office at (337) 265-2100 or on-line at www.RaginCajuns.com

No one commented on this yet? Awesome news!!!

Scott Farmer is really coming through with some great football schedules. Good to see us getting home and homes with AAC and Mtn. West opponents.

Still bothers me to this day that we beat Tulsa in 1989, finish 7-4 to their 6-5, and they go on to play Oregon in the Indepedence Bowl.

Good competitive games at Cajun Field in '77, '78 & '79.

I don't know how things worked back then with bowl selections, but basinbear would definitely know the details. Would have been nice for great Cajun players and future NFL standouts like Brian Mitchell and Todd Scott, to play on a national stage against a PAC 10 opponent.

Anyways I didn't time myself. We stopped to sleep in Shreveport. I could have done without that. People not friendly here, especially since I wore a Ragin Cajun shirt everyday the last 7 while vacationing in Kansas City and St Louis.
