I'm just joking but it is amazing how short memories can be in sports. He wins you a Superbowl and a few short years later he gets the boot. Perhaps we can lure Gruden with one of our lifetime contracts?

Wow. Gruden will probably land somewhere else quickly. Looks like the Bucs filled both the HC and GM positions from within. The new guy basically went from being a position coach to HC. The article initially states he was the DC but he oly held that position since Kiffen left in late December. Hope he has better succes than a certain college postion coach that jumped to HC or the Glazier's might have a lawsuit in their future. Karl Bernard will be watching intently.

If a Saints coach ever brought them to the promised land I would think he would be good for at least ten years. What's strange about today's NFL is that you get fired and another team hires you. It's like every 3-5 years if you have not won a playoff game we will fire you take make ourselves and fans feel better. You are right Gruden will be hired quickly no doubt about that. Isn't Hasselt the Rams new head coach?

Why is this a joke? We get Gruden to coach our football team and Bobby Knight to take over the basketball program!

Maybe when we improve or rebuild some of our facilities they will come. You know....."If you build it they will come."

I think when Haslett was given the interim job they stated that he would get the full time position if he won a certain number of games (I think it might have been 6). I think he won the first game and then tanked. I believe they are looking for another coach.

8 of the last 10 winning coaches of the Super Bowl have been "re-tread" coaches..

denver's shanahan won back to back super bowls 98/99? and he was able to coach what 10-12 years w/out duplicating that success? gruden won one and the next 6 years only made the playoffs twice.. and then lost each time in the wild-card round..

nfl quickly denied that contract to be put into place as it went against the rooney rule.. (have to interview a minority coach)

always wondered how seattle and indy were able to have those "coaches in waiting" when their head guys were to step down, which both holmgren and dungy did..

ps. pay back? mcCarthy fired all of his defensive coaches after the season.. he got his big break when haslett hired him in new orleans.. would not be surprised to see him in wisconsin..

thinking your thinking "could be possibly hired quickly... >> if he wanted to be <<

he will be paid for years not worked, that are left on his contract.. (pretty hefty sum) and lest we not ponder.. he is already calling his notre dame contacts and thinking about watching their games together in this next year's "make or break" season for weiss.. (grins)
