Hollis Conway set the standard for the high jump among American competitors and his success in international competition puts him on the list of Louisiana's top 51 athletes.

Conway was born in Chicago but moved to Shreveport when he was nine, where he began to try out track. He struggled early in the high jump and settled for the JV track team his freshman year. However, he grew as a high jumper and began a successful career at Louisiana.
