Yep...even Nikola Tesla. Both men were considered odd and off putting to the normal everyday joe...but they were both innovative and highly intelligent men that were misunderstood. The comparison is apt...even if you cannot handle it.

The people giving Boomer a hard time love Boomer. However... there's no doubt, Boomer has not just an obsession with a particular lineup of "rival" programs, he selectively showcases some aspect of what he thinks is a triumph of their program, with no relative arguments of how unspectacular everything else is at that program. He draws criticism not because of the few attempts of factual items he offers the forum regarding some trivial (explained later) accomplishment, he uses massive punctuation and a fire alarm delivery to shock us in to believing there's an immediate action we and UL need to take to circumvent this situation.

If Boomer were a dog, he'd be chasing gnats 24/7. All anyone (and again, we love the guy) tries to do is tell Boomer to settle down, chase a squirrel every now and then, and stop worrying about the damn gnats. We all like a dog chasing a squirrel... but freaking barking your ___ off at gnats gets old.

Trivial: Some "fact" discovered by reading another message board, that announces a good recruit is going to Tulane, is not worthy of mention on our forum. It does not accomplish this "I'm trying to give perspective to what is going on at our rivals". It only offers their "highlight". Boomer fails to deliver all of their bad news. Why? Because his source for what's happening at other schools are their fans boasting about the latest solitary accomplishment. Again, he tosses that up on our forum like a victory for them, and a defeat for us. It is abundantly out of context.

I think Boomers friends are only saying, "Reel it in a little... or don't get your feelings hurt if we yank your collar every now and then.". I think he'll keep chasing gnats and everyone will give him shat about it.

Every odd person is not a genius. Every genius isn't an odd person.

Yeah, and they said Rob Ford was crazy too.

Being an astute person I know you are aware of the bell curve. The majority of geniuses are odd. By that same token...the majority of mentally handicapped people are odd. I don't think Boomer is mentally handicapped...so...which side of the bell curve should he be on?

The better question is...what side are people who cannot understand that not everyone understands computers like they do?

Probably on the same side as the long ago scholar who understood scrolls so well he could tell you where he was in the scroll with his eyes closed using just the weight and feel in each hand, but when they gave him a new fangled codex he was totally lost.
