_ Haven't heard any of that. On the main LSU board I follow people were excited about it, as have been the LSU fans I talked to today about him. Hear among other things the kid is an animal on special teams. How the LSU recruiting class finishes "ratings" wise is going to depend on how we finish with the high rated guys. _

If Johns does grayshirt - meaning he delays his full-time enrollment until January 2010 - he would count toward the 2010 signing class, not '09.

There was one thread back in 2004 that went through without anti-lsu. Seriously, lsu came up naturally and someone growled... also naturally. Losing a prospect to lsu is a whole lot better than losing a prospect to others in the state, either in equal or worse "shape" to commit/sign the "highly touted ones".

UL is not in a position to compete for 3 plus star recruits like some talk about on here. It is about like someone saying "if hotter chics would date me, I could be one of those guys with hot chics for dates". No shat? It is a tough situation, but it is the way it is. In the dating world, we are in the clever "fix-her-up" business... and some have taken very little to fix... and turned out to be dang fine. Many a beauty didn't "go public" early or hard enough to get the photo opps. We are seeking them out.

I actually do not care about getting the 3 star or 4 star guy(s) because I think he is heads above the 2 star people we recruit and get. It is only a matter of the attraction getting a 3 or 4 has on other recruits... and the fans. It is far more show than substance. But, the show helps a great deal. I do want to get the better press... for what it will do for our program.

Every key issue at stake is in the hands of the people who draw a check. They are without a doubt the governor on this UL engine. There isn't a successful college program on this planet that is successful for any other reason than good management decisions. We need a 3-star or better administration. I'm waiting on the news of a new direction...

The star rating system is the best way to look at recruits right now but I think of Utah who didn't have a big time recruiting class 4 years ago and look what they did this year. I think we are recruiting well and when we take the next step I think recruiting will get better but I don't know when we will take that next step.
