We didn't loose him because he wanted to play DT. He was offered during the football season, but the coaches did not have his transcript. I spoke to him at the New Orleans All-Star game, he had just sent his transcripts to admissions. Admissions questioned several of his grades and told the staff he would not be admitted into UL until those questions were cleared. The staff moved on and he visited North Texas. I don't know if he would have come if his grades were acceptable, but he did tell me he was committed when they first offered him at OL.
Has anyone heard about the Belle Chasse quarterback, Matherne? In Class 4A, the kid accounted for 50 touchdowns, 2700+ yards passing and 1000+ yards rushing. I know he's listed at 5'10 and 180, but those are huge numbers that should not be ignored.
Why is no one on this kid?
What is the status for the guys who were supposed to make a decision last night?

Has anyone heard about the Mamou running back, Rob Walker? I think I have his name right?
To college coaches, production means little if a recruit is not close to the ideal size for their respective position. If he's listed at 5-10, 180, there's a chance he's actually not quite that big. Even if those numbers are right, they are well-below average for a Division I QB.
There just isn't a huge market at the D-I level for 5-10 QBs. Oregon's Jeremiah Masoli (5-11), Missouri's Chase Daniel (5-11) and ex-Iowa QB Drew Tate (5-9) were recent exceptions to that rule. What helped Masoli and Daniel was that both weighed 215-220 pounds, which helped them take the physical pounding.
He might not be a D-I player after a position change. Just some things to consider.
We initially offered and he didn't have the grades. Then he became eligible, but we didn't offer again. Why not? What changed the coaches mind about him? Why weren't we on top of this kid and re-offered? If he really wants to play here, he is only a commit to UNT. Could he not still change his mind with another offer, assuming we still want him?
