Cajuns find three parts of puzzle

  One overriding fact materialized for UL coach Robert Lee following a thrilling 63-62 win over Denver on Saturday at the Cajundome.

It involved three Cajuns guards - junior Randell Daigle and sophomores Chris Gradnigo and Travis Bureau.

"I guess the main thing we do know is that Bureau, Daigle and Gradnigo are going to play," Lee said. "Now we need to find the right mixture to go with those guys."

One of the sad commentaries on the men's basketball program is that in order for us to make the NCAA tournament, we have to win the conference tournament. It used to be that we had enough wins and a strong enough strength of schedule that we usually had a fairly decent chance of making it even if we didn't win the conference tournament. Now, we look at the out of conference schedule as a tune up for conference and the conference tournament. It has become a mirror image of the football program in the sense that the only way we make a bowl game is to win the conference (although with the additional bowl tie ins in football we could still get to a bowl without winning the conference as long as we have 6 or more wins, except for this year of course).

Just a very sad commentary on a once proud program.
