Thread: Here' A Big Shout Out

Default Here' A Big Shout Out

to the Cajun fans who showed school spirit, character and something in their man pouches by attending the game today. It's great to see such support in difficult times and circumstances.

The first half was taken by LState when they were able to continually knock the ball loose from Cajuns down low or rip it from their hands inside the 3 point line and score off these TOs. LState has several players who closely resemble Dwayne Mitchell physically and they put that strength to good use. The only player we have like them is Jeremy Barr but he was not used much today

At halftime I went outside to the smokers bullpen only to hear several Cajun basketball geniuses referring to Coach Lee as an idiot and stupid because we don't penetrate (BS!) and all we do is throw up 3's (BS!).

In the second half the Cajuns settled down, handled the ball much better and cut down the silly TOs and Randal Daigle came alive for us (as he surely will many more times this season) and we just about pulled if out. It's clear to me that Chris Gradnigo is still not all the way back. He is not in basketball shape yet and his shot is still off.

One other thing for the fashion critics. Our unis, they looked fine.

This team still has a great opportunity to show something this season because the potential is certainly there. I saw it today.

Thanks Des for being there for our young men. You guys sure were loud when we were making our run.

Fun game. Would have been better with a win and some dome foam. Tigger fan kinda sat on the hand and seemed bored until the end.

Sounds like a backhanded compliment to me...

It was a fun game and Im glad I made the trip. Definately fun to see Daigle take control like he did.

Boy, if a couple of our guys had a jump shot, we'd really have something special!

Yea, I'm REAL proud of our showing today. NOT! What a great game it was. Wish they would come to the Cajun Dome

From what I saw the guy struggling most of all with the jumper is soph Gradnigo and he came in as a "shooter" last year. He started slow last year and finished strong so hopefuly he'll come around. I don't see why more of his shots aren't falling right now. Roberson has a nice shot too but he missed some he could have made.

This is obviously not one of LState's best teams but they start 3 seniors and they shoot well at home. To see the Cajuns play much better and actually improve as the game moved on is encouraging.

And, our unis looked fine no mater what is said.

Let's touch back on this subject after L State plays Tennesee and Alabama on the road.

Didn't McNeese almost beat this team? One of LSU best? LOL! Yea our unis would have looked better if we would have won.

This is the first time all year that Gradnigo, Daigle, and Bureau have played together and they are our three best shooters. Destin is right in that Gradnigo is still in a slump. Perhaps the couple of shots he knocked down in the second half will get him going. Main thing I saw today was the leadership Daigle provided. When he started getting on guys, they played harder which is why we were able to come back. We have been lacking a team leader all season and we may now have one. Making free throws and doing better on the boards than we did against Tennessee were also positives Destin is also right in that the turnovers in the first half which caused us to get too far behind is the main reason we cam up a little short. That has to get corrected. We won't make 11 threes every game. Turnovers keep happening and the frustration will continue. I am disappointed but slightly encouraged from what I saw today. I also thought the uniforms looked fine, especially since there was no Lafayette on them.

I saw glorified street ball! The second half we just knocked down shots whereas in the first half we didn't! We still do not have a well run offense and that points to coaching.

It was a great game though and a fun trip to BR. My Izzo's was delicious after the game as well!

In the first half we truned the ball over too much. In the second half we did not, played much better defense and got the ball to our shooters who made some big shots. In case you didn't notice LState made some great shots too.
I am encouraged we will only get better and better, especially with Randal Daigle capable of taking teams out of zone defenses.

I watched the replay on TheStateSportsNetwork a/k/a CST and listening to Len Rollins' play by play is as painful as suffering a severe toothache. WTH is "grad-Nuggo"?

I give "color guy" Collis Temple III credit for knowing quite a bit about our players' background. One of his brothers played a little football for UL and he is no doubt familiar with our instate kids. Anyway thanks Collis.

Did you notice a lot of the TOs involved getting the ball just ripped away from us or taken away inside the arc. Maybe we need a few guys to spend a little extra time in the weight room. Seeing Daigle on the court and doing what Randal does best makes it easier to see what we've been missing. With him as a serious outside threat, we may not see opponents in zone defenses as much. Looking back, he could well have been the difference in the LaTex and North Denton games. They had big success against us playing zone.
