Because no one is willing to answer the question when it is asked.
That is your opinion. It seems like a very defensive posture when you think about it. It's a fair question to ask. It's about getting honest answers from people instead of lectures. There is no wrong or right answer, just what a person is willing to spend.
We have over thirty years of problems that are well documented. You know the ole saying, “don’t tell me about our problems, give me solutions and tell me if you are willing to help solve them financially.”
We have countless threads concerning uniforms, RCAF, tailgating plots, poor coaches and other complaints. And every week these same subjects are rehashed in threads with different titles. We are all on board with most of these changes and a vision plan to create avenues to move this program forward. Once this plan is revealed, I’m interested in hearing how much support people are willing to give this program annually to make these improvements a reality?
Expressing a vision means nothing if it doesn't have support financially.
CajunT,
You want answers?
1) Marketing:
--make the decision today that the new vision for all marketing efforts is "WE ARE LOUISIANA". Requires no money.
--have this vision reflected in the way we market such as making "UNIVERSITY of LOUISIANA", "LOUISIANA", and "UL" all given precedence over "Ragin Cajuns". Requires no money.
--put UL on the helmets. Requires very little money.
--go back to our official colors and normal fonts and numbers that are readable from the stands and the television sets. It does no good to put anything on a uniform if we can't read it. Requires very little money.
2) Funding:
--Trust me when I say that I give all that I can right now. I am not wealthy. However, allowing people like me to make monthly donations to an athletic fund could work. Like 40 or 50 dollars/month.
--and this foundation needs to be independent of the school if you want
to seriously raise big money, fast.
--Double the rent we pay for taligating spots. Schools such as Central Arkansas pay double what we do know. Easily raise tens of thousands of dollars right there.
--schedule McNeese and Southern on a rotating basis every 2 years. Butts in seats = money.
Now, let me ask you a question.
Do you think it is a good idea to continually berate the common fan for not throwing money they don't have at an entity that should be thanking them for merely willing to call themselves Cajun fans?
My moniker here is CajunNation. That was not done without thought. I represent what the average guy on the street is thinking more than anybody on this board, and I am here to tell you that we don't like being told we shouldn't talk about something simply because we don't have the cash to grease the wheels.
We have ideas, and they are as every bit as valid as those held by radio show hosts, website owners, the print media, and the administration.
I don't have all the answers, but those all seem to be good ideas. I'm on board!
Great, finally an honest answer without all the emotions! No one is challenging your status as a "Cajun Supporter"; I'm just trying to gauge how much actual support people are willing to give to this athletic program. The amount you can afford doesn't make you any more or less of a "Cajun Fan" then me.
To answer your question,no! It's no more of a good idea, then calling those "apologist" that want to take some element of positive out of what little we have in athletics. But if you are expecting a thank you card for sticking with your "alma mater" for all these years, you are not going to get one. Isn't that what has earned you the title "diehard", while others have jumped ship?
CajunNation, if you think that I believe I’m more of a Cajun fan then you because of amount money you give to this program, then you don’t know me very well. That is precisely why I help raise money for the Nutrition Supplement Fund and use money from the Scout Site to help in other areas. I’m not wealthy by any means, but I’m willing to do whatever I can to help this program like Cajun Daddy, CajunsMike, Hammer, Zee and many others on this board.
I understand you have ideas Nation. You are one of the most articulate individuals on this board and that is why I’m challenging you to help out. You should go down to Scott Farmers office and speak to him about some of the subjects you have expressed ideas on.
It doesn’t matter to me if you can give $5 or $10 dollars a month to this program, but that you do give period. To me, a true measure of a fan or supporter is not the amount the he can give, but that you are giving something. There are too many people on this board that do a whole lot of talking, but are willing to do nothing or contribute anything. Those people are talkers, we need more doers.
Okay, come on, this is a little silly.
Black uniforms = fine
Seriously, they looked good. Throw out the "it's not our color" argument for a second and take another look. They looked good right?
A nice combo of black, white, and red looks much stronger and more vivid than just red and white. That doesn't mean our school colors expand. It just means that black enters the picture as a accent color. It's better than yellow, right?
The fad among uniforms has been to take an accent color and make a rare alternate uni based around this color. I'll take black in this format any day of the week.
