Tough break guys, I was really hoping for that upset. I bet the cajuns would have won had the Tigahs not had a dozen or so straight home games.
Did we win? no, then it's not good, period. No sugar coating. Either we win or we didn't. It sucks that we lost. I don't care how we played or what it looked like. Unless we win, then nothing else mattersl period. When will the fans accept the fact that only winning counts, it doesn't matter how we played. We are only as good as our wins indicate, nothing more, nothing less.
It was a great effort by the Cajuns in coming back after a rough first half. As a fan who watches them regularly and up close, I hope the team can build on this, come together and do well in conference play which resumes Saturday evening against Denver. What's really important is how they finish the season.
GEAUX CAJUNS!
Scoreboard, huh?
I don't think anyone would ever want to diminish the value of having more points on the board than the other side when the time remaining reads 0:00. However, other things do matter, especially when right now our team just might not be very good for a variety of reasons.
It's hard to win games if you are not winning in practice. It's hard to win in practice if players are sidelined with an injury. It's hard to win ON THE ROAD when the home team shoots ten more FTAs than we do. It's hard to win anywhere when we have six more TOs than the home team.
Take away our eleven 3-point field goals and we would not be talking about "another close one." I appreciate that we did not quit on the road when things could have turned ugly.
Now, let me take the gloves off. So we are 0-2 this week after our run through the SEC. UT was 9-2 and we were crushed by 27. We just lost by two to an 11-1 LSU.
Will we face any team on our schedule as tough as these two?
A winner never quits, a quitter never wins. We have a lot more basketball to play in 2009 where we are currently UNDEFEATED!

If the Cajuns came over here (BR), televised, and lost by 35... I'd be sick about it. Instead, I'm just disappointed that we didn't win. You say it means nothing... but if you lived in Baton Rouge and had to put up with what I put up with... you'd probably see things differently. This DOES matter to alumni... ie a close loss versus an ugly blow-out.
I completely understand the frustration issue. We didn't make it thru the OOC schedule the way we would have hoped. Now we need to see if this deep, talented yet raw, group can put it together for conference play. It will take winning the conf championship to get into the post season... as usual.
