Opponent View: Johnson says UL dangerous

  It’s a bit of a cliché thing to say, but Trent Johnson opened a Monday news conference with this gem about the University of Louisiana's basketball team.

“Louisiana-Lafayette is probably as impressive of a team being (4-7) as you want to see,” he said of the Cajuns, the Tigers’ opponent this afternoon at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

It wasn’t the first, nor the last, such uttering about a team with a losing record.

But a quick look at the Ragin’ Cajuns transaction wire might show why Johnson could use that line with a straight face. Try these comings and goings on for size:

I went to a few Cajun games early and have made some Tiger games as well. I know the Cajuns are struggling and nobody can like the Tenn blowout-but IMO the Cajuns do have a lot of talent and are capable of playing at a high level if they get on a roll. Lee's teams have played LSU well in the past and given the talent level and coming off a blowout, the Cajuns are not a team to be overlooked IMO. I like what I have seen from Coach Johnson so far and think he will do well-but while we have some talent it's not overwhelming at this point. We can play good ball but can struggle too. Ought to be a good game.

If we play like we have been playing it will not be a good game. Every game I have watched has been terrible basketball.
