Crawfish everywhere boycott the MudBugs. Mudbugs to a crawfish is like the N word for blacks and the CA word for Cajuns. Naming the new team Mudbugs is pure ignorance of Cajun culture.

Just be glad they didn't go with Cray Fish
Personally, I am incensed!
Mudbug is a Yankeeism
Hey, people call them Crawdads in Colorado, so it could be way worse! Either way, mudbugs is definitely not a Cajun term.
Coonass is not offensive.
Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. Whether someone let's themselves be offended is totally up to them but originally it was meant to be offensive and derogatory. Some out of ignorance never knew it was offensive. Some decided to embrace it and erase the derogatory nature. Either way it's up to the individual.
There was a boiled Crawfish place on LA 339 named Mudbugs.
Because they call my favorite Louisiana delacacy "BUGS" I said to MYSELF, "I could never eat there."
Partially because I picture an out of state entrepreneur capitalizing on the culture without doing the research.
