The WAC is 0-3 right now with a couple of games to play (Nevada and Md. and LATEX and NIU).

A couple of observations on the game.

Did anyone noticed the FAU defensive linmen get away with a cheap shot on the CMU QB by landing on him late up around the shoulder? Same as what I saw them do against the Troy QB except in that case the FAU player came down late on the QB's feet.

The play by play team mentioned a few Fauowls were not at the game, implying they had not maintained eligibility. A couple of OLs and the FG kicker.

What I wouldn't give for a FAU MLB like Frantz Joseph or even another Cajun along the lines of Stanley Smith or Patrice Alexander.

They are MAC just like NIU. So a 4th place Belt team beat from what I can see a tied for 2nd place MAC team. http://www.mac-sports.com/

Over on the SBC forum it was said by some the Sunbelt was down this season compared to last season. I think if it was then it's an awfully close call.

ULM and MT both lost by a hair to Arkansas and Kentucky. ASU lost by hairs to Memphis and USM. We had pretty good outings against Illinios and K. State. If FIU improves next season like they did this season, look out.

In conference MT beat FAU and ULM beat Troy. We beat ULM and MT but lost to Troy and FAU (and UTEP) when we were wrecked by injuries.

I'd say except for Denton the SBC was actually as good or better in 2008 compared to 2007 but the W/L records weren't quite there. The FAU win and the close Troy loss to USM, easily the second best CUSA team at the end of the season, bode well for the SBC in 2009. I expect the Cajuns to be battling at the top of the league in 2009.

Hard luck team for 2008 was ULM.

Yea, but after the La Tech situation, I've been pulling against every single WAC team and so far the mighty WAC is 0-3 with one of those losses being one that ruins a 13-0 season by their golden boys Boise State. Go NIU and go Maryland, would be nice to see the better than BCS in their own minds WAC lose all 5 bowl games they were in while the lowly SBC goes 1-1 and should have been 2-0.

    Good game by the Owls.

It sounded like their band made the trip even though I never ACTUALLY saw them on TV. Did ANY of their fans actually make the trip outside of a couple of hundred? I felt that ESPN focused on the Central Michigan fan base/band instead of FAU's.

It looked like CMU had a huge crowd. They didn't really pan the stadium so I can't say how many. How about that! A regional team drawing well for a regional bowl! Who would have thunk that? GEAUX HUSKIES!!!

The game drew an overwhelmingly pro-CMU crowd of 41,399. The Chips led the MAC in home-attendance average this year with 22,659. ...

Still a lot of empty seats at Ford Field in spite of CMU only a car trip away. Several of the games to date have been played in less than full stadiums. ESPN is a master at cropping out the empty seats. This is something UL should figure out with most tv/webcast views lookin into the empty visitors side of the stadium.

No doubt there were many empty seats.....many people in Detroit are without jobs....the highest unemployment in the US. I would imagine they have more important issues to deal with right now.

Shreveport was driven by the military and a GM plant. I wonder how that is doing these days.

No. 11 Horned Frogs beat the No. 9 and previously undefeated Broncos of Boise State in the Poinsettia Bowl. The announced attendance at Qualcomm Stadium was 34,628.

Saw this one on the tube too. Lots of empty seats. MCB would have been in big trouble without a Michigan MAC team regardless of the economy.

So many of these games are made for TV.
