These people on both sides of the fence were successful in their smear campaigns.

They managed to drive a wedge between the schools that lasted for about three years. I have not attended one UL or LSU baseball game from that weekend until today. Why? Not because of what happened on that field that day & not because of what happened in the stands that day. I haven't attended a single game because of the lies & BS people were telling that I knew would cause the schools to do what they ended up doing. Go back & look at the records of both baseball teams for the next three years & tell me what these people did were good for either school. _
Instead of pal I'll call you incompetent since that seems to be the consenus. I have followed this site for over a year without posting but felt compelled because your post is almost humorous. (And yes I graduated from UL NOT LSU). Let me get this straight, you are a huge UL supporter but have not attended games since then because of rumors? Again, rumors? Really, rumors? In my book you are not a fand by any stretch of the imagination. And of all people, "you knew it would cause the schools to do what they ended up doing?" Seems to me that you would have bought a powerball ticket a long time ago and utilized your amazing psyc______!! With a name like "Bandwagon King" I seriously doubt YOU knew this would be the result. And give me your explanation of how UL not playing LSU made such a difference in what "was good for either school?"

So you believe every rumor you hear, you're a psychic and don't attend games. You fit the perfect description of an LSU fan. You and your ignorant theories and ideas are why people should get permission to speak.

And please enlighten us on what that "bad decision by the school" may be? Not playing LSU had nothing to do with where our baseball team went after that point. If us playing one school is the difference we need to shut the program down because there's a major problem. I have no "influence" over the university other than I have season tickets every year and go to every game that I can make. It seems that you are the only one who is complaining about the situation, everyone else pays their dues and continues supporting the university. Every University has to make decisions from time to time that some fans may not like but that's life. Every business owner has to make decisions that his employees may not like but that's life. People like you have never been happy, never will be and are not worth catering to make happy.

Then again, if you are so unhappy make yourself available to do something constructive about it besides ranting on a message board.

P.S: Tell your mother not to punish you for being up this late.

Now then, you see what you started?????

    So for the record . . .

I was on the radio the day after the regional making the case that there was no reason to cancel the series.

While I have read very good reasons why an individual or family would never to back. . . I have read nothing as to why the series should have ever been cancelled.

jmo . . . since before the series was cancelled.

Were you one of the people claiming on the radio that someone pulled a switchblade or a pair of brass knuckles that Sunday?

I distinctly remember hearing Tony say the following week that they were not going to be playing LSU for a while after everything that happened so you are wrong there.

Once again, stick to the point. DID OR DID NOT LSU & UL BOTH go downhill for at least three years after they suspended playing each other? I haven't looked at the records so you have plenty of opportunity to use the facts to correct me if I am wrong.

My experience was a buch of clowns dressed up as fans of both schools that don't have enough maturity to know how to grow a rivalry, showed their little behinds after the event & caused the schools to have to act accordingly. Which IMO & the record show caused both schools to loose a competitive edge.

An for the record, and for those who claim better knowledge, the series was cancelled unilaterally by a&m@br.....

Thanks for the work in putting this together.... Some people have selective memories but this was what was contemporaneously reported in the press

How many UL fans did it take to do all this damage? Was the ticket count less than 600 like today?

I don't recall the visiting fan limitations but I doubt it was more than a few hundred.

Regardless of what Bertman said on behalf of Smoke, this had nothing to do with fans and little to do with players.

The subsequent meltdown was media driven.
