Very nice, where are you and your brother from? You should be proud of him. What a great picture they captured. Brings chills to my spine. Congrats!

  4. UL Baseball DeCarlo, FIU thwart UL

MIAMI, Fla. — Florida International pitcher Derek DeCarlo found the form of his first two years here Saturday, much to the chagrin of UL Lafayette.

The Ragin’ Cajuns were stifled for nine innings by the Golden Panther junior righthander, who twirled a five-hitter and fanned 10 in leading FIU to an 8-1 victory and a 2-0 lead in their Sun Belt Conference baseball series.

DeCarlo (3-8) was 11-0 as a freshman two years ago and finished 6-0 with four saves last season before struggling through this season’s first two months. On Saturday, though, he faced one over the minimum through five innings and allowed only two Cajuns to advance past second base.

“He threw a great game,” said Cajun coach Tony Robichaux. “He threw with guts and conviction and he energized his club behind him.”

    The rest of the story

We are from the Lafayette area. My dad played semi-pro ball and umpired hs and college for 30 years. My oldest brother is currently an umpire. Chris coached legion and now is with the Cajuns, and I worked for the UL Baseball team for five years while in school.

    I guess it's in the genes. =)

I missed seeing that picture in the paper. I am sure my parents missed the picture also. I know they would have showed me.

Cajuns1 - I know who you are but I dont know you very well. I have been knowing Chris for quite a few years not & everyone who I have met in the family are great people. Just to let you know who I am, my dad plays guitar for Jambalaya Cajun Band. If that doesnt ring a bell, Chris will let you know exactly who I am.

    Default Cajuns lose 6-5

Cardinals score 2 in bottom of the 9th, including one on a potential game ending double play, but runner was rule safe at first. Base hit with two outs scores runner from third.
