Location: Still up in the air. The way I understand it Dr. A wants it across the street between Blackham and the Cajun Dome, and others would rather have it on the end of pratice field next to the Athletic Admininstration building.
Cost: Still uncertain, but estimated to be $3.5 - $4.5 Million.
Timeframe: Hopefully construction would begin in 6-9 months.

Not much help, but this is the latest report. Sorry it is not more specific.
A big plus would be to have construction started before next years recruiting season begins.

what about the indoor facility, any word on that.....that itself is (to me) the biggest recruiting tool. thanks for the info.

Students to vote on SELF imposed $20 fee per semester, $15 goes to Practice facility the other $5 I believe goes to the band for expansion and travel with the team!!!!!!

If you are a student or you KNOW a student it is a win win situation go get them to VOTE YES!!!!!!!!

I have no idea ask around campus for where and when!!!

  6. Default Indoor Practice Facility

I heard Coach Bustle's interview on SportsRadio 1420 mentioning the ground breaking for the indoor practice facility on, hopefully, September 1, 2004. I found a picture of a facility similiar to the one proposed for UL and a list of all athletic construction projects. I thought some might be interested.

    Nice find CajunKate

I tell you what I would like to see as I sit here on Fantasy Island:

  8. The indoor facility where the track is now, that way it could be full size, and would not take up any space from the open practice fields.

  9. Place the track near where the intramural fields are now, and simply move the bleachers on top of a bridge walk platform. There is plenty of parking just on the other side of the concrete canal.

  10. This would give CajunVic to parking and connect the new intamural fields with the NEW track & Field facility.

Turbine, this sure does sound good to me. I would like to see this drawn out so I can get a better picture of all this to be in Lafayette. I had seen a picture of the indoor facility before.

I believe the new indoor facility location is 95% decided. What I am hearing is that it will be directly in front of the Athletic Building, between the football practice field and the tennis courts. it would be more or less behind the softball park.

    ... Fantasy continued

In addition to the indoor facility being where the track is now and the track along side picturesque Cajun Dome Blvd.

  14. I would like to see Authement make a big push to buy the turf from the Superdome. They are changing it out, and it is only a year old. I talked to an Erath student and he said the turf was great. Authement you can save big bucks here, don't make the same mistake you made with Bill Cosby.

  15. I would like to see Lourdes Park placed between the Athletic offices and Tigue Moore Field, specifically on the baseball parking side of the area.

  16. This would leave parking open for baseball, and RV's, where Lourdes Park is currently being planned for. It would also provide lots of parking for the indoor complex, which would be where the track is now.

  17. Lourdes Park would be centrally located between Softball, Baseball, Football, and Tennis and would be equal distance from basketball, track, and Bourgeois Hall.

  18. If parking seemed tight, a small lot could be built where the indoor facility is currently being planned for, or right next to the tennis courts with a short walkway to LAdy Cajun Park.

Under my fantasy plan, parking works for every venue.

You are correct Crawfish. That is what is on the table right now.

    Here's my fantasy.

    1. Take out the parking lot behind the 1st base bleachers where the RV's camp out for football games and add trees, CONSESSIONS (2,000 people need more than 1 consession stand), and green space for the baseball field.

    2. Build a new multi story athletic complex which nestles closer to Cajun field. Include in it a walk of fame which resembles the walk of honor. One side would be onnected to the building, the other would have glass covering the openings in the arches where that show a nice view of Cajun field. (Accessable from both inside and outside Cajun Field) Also, the complex would have suites/offices overlooking Cajun Field.

    I can dream, can't I?
