  1. UL Basketball A great start: UL bests ULM

With a chance to start Sun Belt play with a statement, the UL men's basketball team made a big one on Monday.

The Ragin' Cajuns posted the most lopsided conference victory under coach Robert Lee after rolling past ULM, 86-58, in a dunk-fest at the Cajundome.

UL (4-4 overall, 1-0 Sun Belt) evened up its record following a dominating performance on both ends of the court. On offense, the Cajuns shot 53.2 percent from the floor and finished with a 22-2 advantage in fast-break points, including eight dunks. Defensively, they held the Warhawks to 27.1 percent shooting and forced 15 turnovers.

Here is a comment from the article. This is a common issue I have heard from similar morons. However, it is a perception we must understand, overcome, and get rid off. Of course academically we are WAY ahead of ULM, but athletically we are not. I do think we are better, but our FB record vs. ULM doesn't help that argument. Any thoughts?

"You know, do you think the Cajun's "snub" from the Indee Bowl may have had anything to do with N. La folks tiring of the arrogance of Lafayette folks in the constant denegrating of ULM by always referring to the Cajuns as UL but "that" school in N. La as ULM? Gee, the snooty and pretentious Lafayette only needs to refer to itself as THE UL. Well, they are NOT. They are ULL, just as Monroe is ULM. Maybe a little respect for ULM would go a long way to allowing N. La to start respecting the Cajuns.

I have a hard time understanding which team is being referred to as "UL" in this article; is it ULL or ULM? Oh, that's right, the Cajuns are UL, never to be referred to as ULL lest that put them on the same level as "that" inferior school in N. La in , egads, Monroe. Oh, no, Lafayette must be referred to only as UL because they are better than that other school. Sickening and insulting and degrading."

Maybe we should get Gradnigo to dunk on him. That would set him straight!

I see no connection at all between this gibberish and the bowl snub.

I'm so freaking tired of people _____ing about the damn name thing. I've yet to find someone who can give me a legitimate argument why they oppose us referring to UL (Lafayette) as strictly UL. There's absolutely NO CONFUSION when UL plays UL Monroe. UL is UL and UL Monroe is ULM.

The one big argument we always get is: "UL Lafayette is their official name, you should refer to them as their official name."

Yet, can you imagine the hysteria if we started referring to that Chick-Fil-A Bowl matchup as pitting Georgia Institute of Technology against Louisiana State University Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge?

I'm just so sick of it. Is that all people have to worry about these days?
