    Thanks Josh

for those wondering this is what I found on the two:

    Rico Joseph 5'10" 180 4.45
    Terrell Gaddies 6'2" 275 4.9

why do we recruit such small receivers?

I don't know if I'd call 5"10 really small. I understand your question but all of our WR's next year will be in the 6'0 or better range. That's not bad for our level. The big programs get the prototypical 6'3" 215 pound guys since they are the most valued generally but some do fall through the cracks. Doesn't mean they can't become good receivers though. I thought Derrick Smith could have been great if he wasn't a headcase and he wasn't that big.

OK Parrott---think i got the thing figured out---we only put the Louisiana kids that we are after on the recruiting list---I go to the Scout board and 3 of the 5 aren't listed--maybe mucho smart move ---heard that Gerald B. was on the trail of some damn good Houstonians!!!!!!

Ends up the DT is Tyrell Gaddies.

Can't go wrong with another Tyrell, huh?

Boomer, you check the inside folder, I mentioned Joseph and have video since Dec.4th. Gaddies is a commit but he is one course short right now. He might be a May graduate at this point.

When I talked with Andrew Joseph earlier today, he said he wants to improve his speed but really takes pride in his route running.

Sometimes bigger is better at WR, but I'll take a smaller guy like Steve Smith any day over a bigger WR who is a headcase like Terrell Owens or Randy Moss. That said, I'm not a fan of punching your teammate in the face.

Louisiana S-Club Re: UL football gets two more commitments

Tyrell Gaddies is 6' 2" 275 lbs and was a 110 meters hurdles champion in high school. Sounds like an unusual combination of size and speed. Looks like our coaches have found another great athlete that was off of everyone else's radar. Keep up the good work!

Our coaches seem to have a different approach to recruiting. Boomer is right. All of the lists and charts we see about UL recruiting are almost meaningless. In the last few years, most of the players UL signed were not even reported has having been offered a scholarship. This coaching staff appears to be very guarded and tight lipped about who they are targeting. I think for UL that is a good thing. Look at what happened to Tech last year. They had this great recruiting class on paper and was very public about their commitments. In the end, Tech lost several of their high level recruits at the last minute. Once again, ULM and Tech both have over a dozen public commitments. UL stands to be the recipient of some good high school players that are the victim of the over-recruiting practiced by bigger schools. Let's see who everyone signs in February.

We recruit small receivers because they are probably the fastest ones we can get. I'll take a small fast receiver over a tall slow one any day. The tall fast ones go to Oklahoma, LSU, Texas, Florida and the 100 other schools who have more recruiting clout than UL... for now.

Don't forget that we have LDG at 6'5". If he works at it, he'll be a beast.

LDG is considered a TE but I know what you mean because he does split out on some sets effectively making him a WR. Once we bulk him up to about 240 pounds, he will be a very tough matchup.
