Thread: Louisiana Ran out of Gas

  1. UL Baseball Louisiana Ran out of Gas

LOUISIANA La — The well finally ran dry for Louisiana’s baseball team in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, and barring a “Monday Miracle” coming out of the NCAA offices in Indianapolis today there’s nothing left to prime the pump.

The Cajuns have only the faintest of hopes at securing one of the 34 at-large bids to the NCAA regionals, with that list to be announced at 11:30 a.m. today on ESPN2.

“It’s going to be tough,” said Cajun head coach Tony Robichaux. “Some key things had to happen for us to have a chance, and pretty much none of them did. I thought we had to get to Saturday for sure, and we probably needed South Alabama to be there.

“With Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky getting to Saturday, that means a team that wouldn’t have gotten in is the tournament winner, and that locks them in and pushes everybody else down.”

Then, weekend pitching rotation starter Jered Salazar was sidelined for the year with an arm injury, and fellow rotation member Austin Faught fought a sore arm virtually all season. Senior regular Andy Gros also struggled with tendinitis for much of the year before finding his rhythm at the end of the season.
I think this tells most of the story
