Thread: UNLV transfers could make debuts for Cajuns

  1. UL Basketball UNLV transfers could make debuts for Cajuns

Two newcomers to the UL men's basketball program could make their Cajun debuts at 7:05 tonight against Louisiana College at the Cajundome. Whether that will happen depends on how quickly the professors of UNLV transfers Emmanuel Adeife and Lamar Roberson get grades for this semester's final exams posted.

As long as Adeife and Roberson took care of their academic responsibilities, the two forwards will become eligible to play for the Cajuns (2-4) once their grades are turned in. That could happen in time for them to play tonight against Louisiana College (2-5), but there's a chance they might not be able to play until Monday's Sun Belt opener against UL Monroe or Thursday's conference game against North Texas.

Both will be dressed out tonight and will see some playing time. Not sure if either one of them will start.

Coach Lee said on the pregame show we might see Daigle cleared to play on Dec 23rd. With his return we will finally see the 2008-2009 Ragin' Cajun basketball team ready to roll. Should be a sight to see.

Roberson looked pretty good. Adeife made some bad decisions on defense and had trouble on the foul line. I was surprised to see Roberson playing in the 2 spot for part of the 2nd half tonight (w/ Batiste, Barr, Adeife, and McCoy). He did much better than I would have expected in that position. Good to see them getting playing time in tonight... we'll need 'em next week against ULM and NT.

Adiefe hit 50 percent of his free throws. That will be a high water mark for him. Robert said after the game he'll take that. Some folks just can't shoot em.

Bird of Paradise, here is a question for you-How long will Wallace and Dison be out. They did not dress last night. Also, Roberson played some at point and was impressive there in my opinion. Do you agree? Looking ahead, tomorrow night starts conference play so the intensity will pick up. I am sure ULM wants to pay us back after beating them twice last year on last second threes. After that, Thursday night should be challenging as UNT is 6 and 2 with Johnny Jones usually fielding one of the most talented squads in the league.

Believe that I heard Coach say after the game that Dison will likely be out for the year.

With Wallace just playing in 4 games he might be able to still redshirt. Batiste has been better than I expected so far and with Adeife playing now there is enough depth of big men to were Courtney won't be missed that much. I would rather have him around for two more years than fighting for minutes later on this year anyway.

Coach Lee did say in the post game show that Dison will most likely be out for the year and may have surgery.

I thought Roberson did a good job at the point but it is hard to tell against weak competition. Roberson is a talent, he is someone that is 6-8 and can both shoot and handle the ball. He hit 2 3's and made a few really good passes, he also sees the court really well. I am looking forward to seeing this guy play.

I think we may have to many good players on this team. There will be 14 players that will letter this year and nearly everyone has started before or could start in the future. This team has some serious talent and depth but the key will be chemistry and players knowing there role.

This team could be scary good.

It will be interesting to see this team at full strength and I think it's great that they will all have played with each other before the LSU game...It would be sweet to go into LSU with fully loaded team and come out with win!

Roberson was a McDonalds All-American coming out of high school, give him some time to work off the rust. In my opinion, there is no such thing as too much talent. I don't think any top 10 program is concerned about having "too much talent." The one thing we will have is the flexibility to match up with any line-up in the Sun Belt. If the Cajuns go small against teams like Troy, you can toss out Daigle,McCoy, Bureau, Gradnigo and Roberson. Who do you guard against the lineup? All of them are capable of scoring and creating their own shot.
