The NBA isn’t the NFL. The players are in charge. Teams like the Pelicans are little more than glorified farm clubs. Unless you’re willing to pay that hefty luxury tax you’ve got very limited opportunities to field an elite team. Today you need 3 superstars and a solid supporting cast.
The Thunder got very lucky in their draft several years back. San Antonio seems to find players every year. You’ve got the Lakers, Celtics and a few rotating big market teams. For the rest it’s just a different deal, get a lottery pick develope him, trade him before ya lose him.
