Please don't compare these two, Rondo is garbage.
Please don't compare these two, Rondo is garbage.
I would not go as far as to say garbage, a career that he averages 11.1 points per game and 8.3 assists per game, and a career playoff numbers of 14.5 points per game and 9.3 assist per game aint garbage to me. Does he have weaknesses, yes. But if Elfrid plays 7 seasons in the NBA and has similar numbers, I would consider that pretty damn good. I hope he has better FT and 3 point %, because I know his defense will be better.
After a great showing in the Orlando Summer League, Payton has Magic fans excited for the future. Payton should be a player to keep an eye on this year and could find himself starting immediately for the Magic. Point Guard
1. Elfrid Payton, Magic
2. Exum
3. Marcus Smart, Celtics
4. Russ Smith, Pelicans
5. Shabazz Napier, Heat
Summary: Easy call. Payton has the clearest path, by far, to a starting job, under the assumption Victor Oladipo moves to become the full-time shooting guard, and having an opportunity is an obvious edge over others fighting for backup minutes. Smart would similarly greatly benefit if the usual Rajon Rondo trade speculation finally becomes reality now that a successor is in place. Smith could go from No. 47 directly into the New Orleans rotation.
Elfrid Payton does the old fake alley oop play just like it was drawn up

A thing of beauty!
Don't think that was a fake ally oop
Just lucky drop. Geaux Elfrid!
Leeman, do you really think we thought it was a fake?
