Under the new agreement, effective Oct. 1, Robichaux's annual base salary will be bumped to $120,000 - an increase of $16,000 - to keep him as the highest-paid baseball coach in the Sun Belt Conference.

In his new deal, Robichaux will also receive a $10,000 bonus if the Cajuns win the regular season or conference tournament championship or make an NCAA tournament appearance. He would earn additional bonuses for reaching an NCAA Super Regional ($15,000) and the College World Series ($20,000) and by winning the national championship ($25,000). The amount of that compensation would be paid for the highest achievement in any year.

Robichaux will also get a $2,000 bonus if the baseball team compiles a 3.0 grade-point average. The same amount will be paid if the team has a graduation rate of at least 60 percent. The team must also have an average of at least 925 on the NCAA's Academic Performance Rate (APR) for both of those bonuses to be paid.

He will receive bonuses for being the Sun Belt and/or Louisiana Coach of the Year ($3,000), South Regional Coach of the Year ($4,000) and National Coach of the Year ($5,000) and if UL's average paid home attendance is at least 2,500 ($2,500).

I was under the impression that he also gets to keep all of the money he generates from his camps and can utilize that money as he sees fit (sharing with Asst. Coaches, etc.) or keep it for himself. If that is true, he actually makes more than what his salary is. Of course he has to put in the extra work involved with the camps.

New post saying Deggs will be announced this afternoon. Not sure who actually knows anything, everybody seems to have sources (sounds familiar). Now I'm nervous again

It would be a tough pill to swallow but like someone posted in another post, it is better to have successful coaches move on then have unsuccessful coaches stay.

Even now I don't think Degg's has been given enough credit for the last two years.

I hope next year proves me wrong.

And lets be honest, when both you and your boss know you aren't going anywhere you aren't going to make as much money as someone who is willing to look elsewhere.
We do not operate in a vacum do we? Robe sells 3700 tickets a game, and all the concessions, and trinkets that go with those butts. He has constantly put over 2500 butts into that stadium for over a decade. Get a coach of lesser abilities and you can be sure that number would be far less, and the resulting revenues far less. So while most of the ticket monies, along with concessions might go to the general fund, a smart man would find a way to pay Robe in general what he warrants in revenue he generates. But alas we have Farmer who thought we could replace Robe with a 21 year old rookie position coach.

Bottom line is Robe generates far, far more than he and his coaches are being paid, and we could actually end up in a negative cash flow with lesser coaches. Pay the man and staff accordingly.

Serious question. Can you back up these claims with numbers?

I also believe that the baseball fanbase is loyal to the program and as long as we play competitive baseball, the attendance would not falter. May not be what it was this year, but let's be honest, a down year with Robe at the helm would be a drop in attendance as well.

What are the expenses? Many people do not know how expensive running a baseball program is. How many dozens of baseballs do we go thru? Bats, gloves, cleats? How much does it cost to spend an entire weekend in a hotel and feed the team? How much did it cost to put the turf in a few years ago?

I think most of those things are supplied by your sponsors. I know Louisville Slugger provided the specially juiced bats we use, and I'm sure a number of other items are sponsor provided. Travel expenses are paid for by the sport, but I think the outfield signage has been used for travel expenses in the past.
