I chose NOLA, simply because it is the best place to party after a game. Just ask the Who Dat Nation. We were there last weekend and the Dirty Bird fans got into the city spirit by wearing Mardi Gras beads...in their teams colors, of course.
FYI, here's the matchups to consider:
New Orleans Bowl - USM vs Troy
Motor City Bowl - FAU vs Central Michigan
Papajohns.com Bowl - NC State vs Rutgers
Independence Bowl - We know already
Texas Bowl - Western Michigan vs Rice
Just judging by matchups, I voted Papajohns Bowl with the 2 bigger conf teams.
I chose NOLA, both are in the region of the Superdome. It's on a Sunday (weekend). Neither had the opportunity to go to a bigger bowl so neither is let down to be going to NOLA so I think there will be a good turnout. All hinders on the fanbase travel. I don't see folks up in N'awlins waiting with baited breathe for this one.
I chose Texas Bowl; but think NOLA will be next highest attended.
Texas Bowl 52,001.17
Actually, 1.17 tickets...for a woman 17/100ths into her pregnancy. I use a very scientific and proprietary model - one that accurately predicted Louisiana going to this same bowl game.
Wait....what? What do you mean we're not going? Last I heard, on that message board....what? are you pulling my leg?
I think people are underestimating the Motor City Bowl. Haven't they had awesome crowds?
I picked the Texas bowl. And I would have picked MC next.
New Orleans Bowl, easy.
USM is 2 hours away, Troy is 4 hours away.
Houston? No way. Rice is a poor draw, and 16 people will show up from Michigan.
The Indy Bowl allegedly has a contract from FatHead for 10K random cardboard figures...
That means Tech brings 2K + 7 acres of tarp, NIU brings a couple a dozen people, and FatHead brings 10K.
So, predicted announced attendance: 83,948.
And gobs of excess revenues.
Remember, you heard it hear first.
You usually don't know much about what you type. The Houston Bowl will do well with attendance. The exact numbers are up for debate but Rice alone in a bowl game will bring 30,000 in their home arena. Next will be the NOLA bowl with many USM grads right here in the metro area. It is not a far drive from Troy to here but their home attendance leaves me a bit worried. USM could bring 25,000 on their own. Troy another 10,000 would be a good mark but far behind the Texas Bowl. The Indy Bowl should be a wash. About 30,000 Tech fans and at the most 2,000 NIU fans. I thinks 1) Texas Bowl 2) NOLA Bowl 3) Indy Bowl. Also I hope NIU runs the score up on the Techsters.
