What do yall think about this? After the Independence bowl gets shut down this year, should the sunbelt go into Shreveport and help create a new bowl game there with a lower payout between SBC & CUSA or one of the last place SEC or Big 12 teams? I think one of the biggest killers for the Independence bowl is going to be its 1.1 million dollar pay out where as a 350k bowl might actually be able to succeed there. Also, you have to consider that independence stadium will be doing whatever it can to have something viable going on inside its stadium because it would be rotting without this bowl game. I would prefer a south Louisiana bowl too, but there just isn't a stadium in south Louisiana really viable enough to sustain. Aside from that, the positives are good considering that 6 of the 9 members of the sunbelt conference would be within driving distance, those being UL, ULM, NT, ASU, MT, and WKU. ALL 6 are within a 10 hour drive according to mapquest, and all would travel atleast a few thousand to that stadium in the event of a bowl bid.
You could call it the Tabasco Cajun bowl, or the Arklatex bowl, or anything as long as one of the primary tie ins should be the Sun belt #2.
This i just something that I thought of, wonder if anyone else likes this thought.
