A great example: Last year, Troy signed 35 players. That's 10 more than a team is allowed in a year.
Some of those guys did not qualify and went to JUCOs. Some others, including Kentucky QB Corey Robinson, who threw a national-record 91 TDs as a senior, delayed their full-time enrollment until this spring.
Most of those JUCO guys will end up at Troy in two years. It's one of the ways Troy has become a power in the Sun Belt.
I'm not giving them props. It's just interesting to see different recruiting philosophies.
Last year, Miami (Fla.) signed 33 recruits. Alabama got 32. LSU had 26.
The Cajuns won't ever be a program that over-recruits like Troy. And there's nothing wrong with that.
If you have the proper coaching you can win with decent talent. End of story.
DE Terrell Richardson signed in 2005 but did not fully enroll at UL until spring 2007.
DB Frantz Accime signed in 2006 but did not fully enroll at UL until spring 2007.
DT Jermaine Rogers signed with UAB out of high school in 2006 but never enrolled there before coming to UL in spring 2007.
WR Jason Chery committed to Oklahoma State before Les Mile left for LSU but sat out a year to get his ACT score before coming to UL in 2005.
