They don't have him listed because while he was winning a weight lifting competition to raise money for his school, Nike was having a high school combine in San Antonio we didn't know anyrhing about. Had we known, we would have been there. We didn't know about tge combine, or how important it was for him to attend. So how in hells blazes can rivals, or scouts know about him if in their eyes he doesn't even exist? And even if he does exist he just flat didn't care enough to go to their combine. Guess what. There is no make up test. So figure it out for yourself. You have someone who didn't knowcthe ropes so the train leftvthe station while they were do gooding. Now he's screwed because it doesn't matter what I say. It doesn't even matter how well he does in his camps. The only people who will know about him are the guys whocwork him out at the camps he attends. Do you understand that? So who's to blame? I guess I am. How was I supposed to know? I would guess with all the people I was communicating with, one of them would have known enough to tell me to make certain Josh attended that Nike camp...Or else he isn't even alive. I guess it's like being born without a burth certificate, or social security number. I guess if I was in love with reading abour my son as much as some on here seem to think, I would have looked for him sooner & asked, now why isn't hecin that there whatchamacallit. But I didn't think to ask. And certain people I relied on sure as ____ didn't bother ti tell me. Or tell me how fuxkibg important it was for him to attend one of those camps. So you see? I don't give ____ how gret Rival's & Scout's credentials are. If you don't know how to swing on the first f...ing vine then they don't even know you're alive. How's that for a f...ing answer @$$hole?
Well you donkey, you talk about me not asking a question. I dont recall asking your @$$ why your son isn't on scout or rivals. So I don't care about your sob story.

As for your son,I truly wish him the best; Sounds like he's a great kid. But I think its important you and him remeber this: Scout or Rivals don't have any scholarships to hand out.

BWK or anyone--Do you think a player is penalized if they play for a school like LCA or AC where they look really good against the scrub teams and then get whacked by stiffer competition? The article linked earlier listed the LCA running back as one of the best in LA but didnt look so good against teams not named Hamilton Christian or Acension Cath. The kid may be a really good back but does that put any doubt into the scouts' mind?
BWK-Hoping for the best for your boy!

Here's the thing everyone forgets. They were picked 30 out of thirty. They weren't supposed to even compete with houma, or ac. When they came out of the box kicking butt. Remember this. Our coaches held our guys back. They were taking a knee at half time not to run up the score on these people. We weren't supposed to beat Guyden. We were supposed to be Guyden. It didn't happen. But when we lost Dylan for three games with an ankle injury we went on a three game skid. That's absolutely the only reason we lost to Hansen. Hargrave had three carries for 225 yards & two touchdowns in four plays. That was the game after VC. We also lost a game to AES we should have won. Central Catholic dominated us in the second half. They had a good win there. But we stomped Highland Baptist. And with all that and his gaudy numbers Dylan didn't get a single all district vote. That's another reason I'm concerned. Even if they win district & even state, the only coach I would trust to do the right thing is the coach from VC. I wouldn't put it past the rest of those guys not vote for any of our kids no matter what.
So if perception is reality. No one from that district will ever be taken seriously because for the most part they don't deserve to be imo. But that puts me in more of a bind. Because if your kid isn't voted all district he can't be nominated for all state. And I'd love to hear the whaling & gnashing of teeth that would go on around here even if this coaching staff went out & recruited a kid without the blessing of Rival's and/or a chest full of medals.

But you did ask me why I thought my evaluation of someone like my son could be better than Rival's. And to make you understand why I had to explain how can someone evaluate you when you don't even exist? Do you ubderstand that concept?

So my evaluation has to be better than theirs, no matter how rotten. Because to them tmy son doesn't exist. I know you'reca smart guy. You see how that works?

Some things learned with combines during 71's playing days....How many bench reps at 125lbs can the big guy pop and what about his game tape grades. Does the coach grade players based on game performace after the video is broken down? you know, graded to 80% etc...

Qyen Griffen was listed on Scout and Rivals, he wasn"t rated a 3 or 4 star because of his grades.

If you're an authoritative coach with such knowledge, even though by your argument that all his numbers aren't four star , as you keep going back to his bench press to point out, which must mean all the other numbers are four star or better. If you know so much then why don't you share with us which school you coach at & name all the players you have at your school who can bench press more with free weight than my son.

I'll even go further than that. We'll raise money for charity. You pick your ringer from whatever high school it is where you coach. Just make sure it's a legitimate player at a school where you coach. And I'll take my son & put up 500 dollars for the school's athletic department to see whose kid wins the bench press competition. One catch, you come on here & fess up that you didn't know ____ when Josh wins if you're man enough to take the bet. Because if you're a coach & had to go back to your glory days of playing high school to think of someone you played with to reference someone who could outbench my son. Then you are just stirring ____ to stir it, or you can't name any other players that you've coached who can do it. Which means unlike me, once again you are full of ____. Or better yet. You're probably not a coach at all. Name the school & the players. I'll be waiting for your response.
You say your gonna leave it along and then write half a page of nothing...Bottom line regardless of what you think or I think we aren't the ones making offers...As a former athlete at UL I hope your son gets a shot here...But to come on a fan message board and try to get everyone to agree with you is pointless and probably hurts your son more than it helps...Nobody said that they had players who could out bench your son, just said that all high school football players should be able to bench there body weight...I'm done with this...

Lot's of conflicting information. One BWK post implies that his kid is getting screwed in the recruiting process. Others imply that he is getting plenty of looks and that it's UL that might lose out for not offering sooner. So which is it? Is he being overlooked or is he getting plenty of looks?

With those measurables, the kid will get a scholarship. It might not be to UL. I'm pretty sure both he and the school would survive such a thing. Even beyond the usual BWK hyperbole, the kid sounds like a solid prospect. I'm particularly impressed with his grades, given the athletic workload. That's a good sign for later life. I hope it works out for all involved.

The bottom line for the parent of any prospect, potential prospect, or even a want to be prospect: It doesn't matter how many coaching camps you go to or try to attend, or how much money you spend on film, or joining recruiting networks. If you don't go to one of the recruiting site sponsored combines early in life & get on their board, your son or daughter doesn't exist. And the longer your son or daughter doesn't exist, the harder it will be for them to have a realistic chance to compete for the scholarships that are out there from the FBS schools, especially the ones in your home town. That's the way life is today. Anybody who doesn't believe that isn't talking to the coaches who are chasing around recruits. The big time college mindset today is the best recruits are only at Nike, Under Armor, or some such camp. And the leftovers are at the other football camps trying to catch up. Even though I saw plenty of outstanding linemen & great coaching today in Thibodaux.
