[Reality Check]

I don't want a buch of overblown stats going out over the air waves. And I'll tell you guys now, we're getting love & in some cases plenty of love by more than one. But I'm not getting the kind of assurances where I was hoping, that won't cause me to have to reup my son in a certain camp some 50 miles to the east of here. That is very disappointing to me. I surely didn't even want him to have to deal with that again. But I saw where he was last year with the best crop of Juniors in the region. And I can tell you I'll put him & his work ethic up against anybody anywhere in this country. He is a man. A very fast very agile man for his size. These are the facts.

6'4 5/8" tall 5.09 fastest 40 time so far. ( probably faster right now) 52" extra long jacket
296 pounds 4.81 second shuttle run 14 extra wide shoe
3.0 GPA 24" vertical leap 38" w X 36" L pants
24 ACT 96" broad jump XX large shirt
last highest bench press was 290 pounds 1st of May ( likely 25 pounds higher now)
Turned 17 in March. He is a left handed left tackle who has played on a championship calliber team his final year of competition at every single level since CAYSI.

Compare those combine stats to the top tackles coming out of college & going into the NFL draft & tell me what you come up with. He's a stud & there is no doubt. I'm just glad the milk man left plenty of milk to feed him this whole time. He has 4 star size, talent, skill set, and ability. The question is how much does playing in a single A district where the coaches are so chicken $h!+ they won't do the right thing just show they can hold a grudge keep him from being recruited heavily by the home town major university. You guys know where I stand & I'll tell you now, if I got the right word from the right people in a timely manner, I would NOT be sending him to Baton Rouge for lineman camp. But I have a feeling the new OL coach there won't allow to happen what the last OL coach allowed to happen to that football team. So I got a feeling he doesn't come out of BR this time without a buttload of hickies on his neck. Sorry fellas. I'd love to say I'm all in. But my son is gonna play somewhere on a scholarship. That's the only assurance he has of getting to really compete for a starting position one day. I have no control over the thoughts of the powers that be at certain places. I only know my boy loves Mark Hudspeth & Jay Johnson.

Whoa, you might want to tap the brakes there my friend. Perhaps you are being blinded by a father's pride in this instance. You post some impressive stats that you say match up with any college age kid entering into the NFL draft and reference 4 star talent. I checked the various recruiting websites (24/7, Rivals and Scout) and don't see your son listed in any of their data bases. With stats like those that you posted, one would figure that the recruiting sites would have your son in their data bases.

I have never seen your son play and I am sure that he is a quality young man. All I am saying that we are sometimes too close to a situation and we lose all concepts of reality. UL's silence is maybe something that you need to think about.

I have to agree with Boomer on this. Just my opinion, but I thought it was a mistake turning that young man down. He was a great dual sport athlete & the kind of kid that will do whatever he has to to make your football team & make it better. he would have been a hell of a special teams demond. And I know he has to be strong as a bull the way he threw the shot put. I knew he was good with the discuss, but to be that good with the javelin also? You just don't find that calliber of athlete on every tree, and I don't give rip whether he played at a 1-A school or not.

Just because some guy played at a big school with a bunch of thugs & gangsters & is probably two years older than the kid from a good private school only means you're subject to be looking at a butt load of trouble in a couple of years. And for what? Now if he can't qualify that's another thing. But guys like that, that used to get away from UL for whatever ignorance used to come back & kick the crap out of this program & embarrass this program state wide. When you let one like that go. You better make damn sure you don't lose one in the process who was of questionable character like a.... well... I could name a few. And they weren't that good when they were on the field. Most of that is behind us now also, Thank goodness.

Kyle, you know I disagree with both you and Boomer on the subject of Zeno. I've spoken to both of you and here is the bottom line on the kid, he had zero FBS offers! So, not a single FBS program in Louisiana offered him and every UL OL signee in the 2014 class had FBS offers. So that means not only did UL not have Zeno on their board late, but Tulane, ULM, Louisiana Tech and LSU did not as well.

He has the frame to put on weight and get stronger after a couple of years at McNeese State, but he will not be ready to contribute until then. He may turn out to be a pretty good player, but I don't fault our staff for not signing a kid that did not have one FBS offer. And I don't always agree with the staff and they don't always agree with each other on prospects. Its not a perfect science.

I don't lie & don't have a reputation for lying. I have a reputation for embellishing until people see what I already know to be a fact. The fact is if my son were you're son, I'd be coming on this site plain ___ saying UL is butt ___ crazy if they don't steal this kid while they can. But he's my son. So I have to down play his numbers. I tell him all the time nobody gives a ____ how fast you can run in the first quarter. They all want to know what you can do in the fouth quarter. UL knows how fast he ran last year as a junior & I can tell you at the select camp last year was one of the five fastest guys out of the O line or D line. And he was one of only two juniors at that camp. Make no mistake about it. My son is one of the fastest offensive tackles in the United States of America. I didn't make that article about him & I didn't start this thread either.
I could care a less about what Rivals, or Scout have to say. I know both BJ & Mike Scarborough very well. BJ doesn't want to overplay Josh to me because he's my friend & he doesn't want to get caught in the middle if UL doesn't offer. Mike saw Josh at the LSU camp last year & commented on how good he looked. But they were eyeballaing the same two guys that Les was in love with. I have no doubt if Josh attends the LSU camp this year, he'll be one of the three fastest linemen there as he was the fastes Junior last year. Until you see him run you might want to take your own advice & give yourself a reality check.

has it ever occurred to you that you might be hurting your son by doing this on a message board? has it ever occurred to you that maybe a coach wants your son buy might be hesitant in getting in a 4-5 year relationship with you? im all for people for supporting and talking up their kids but there is a line where you can do more harm than good. lezbehonest, sometimes you can be a bit much.

Did that young man have a 76 1/2" wing span? Was he seventeen & two months old, or was he 18 & 11 months old when he did it? It's one thing to bench press 300 pounds when your arms are 18 inches long than it is to bench press 300 pounds when your arms are 26" long. But I apreciate you bringing that up. Why would I lie about or embelish a guy's speed or agility, and not embelish about his strength?

Was it with a month left in his junior season, or at the end of his senior season? These things should be taken into consideration & put into proper perspective, or else one loses sight of the facts. I would be highly disappointed if you told me the young man who played running back didn't run at least 0.3 seconds faster in the forty also? Now let's put them up against each other head to head for 48 or sixty minutes straight & see who's being carried off the field by the middle of the second quarter. There is a reason lightweights don't fight heavy weights. There is a reason one guy plays running back & the other plays offensive tackle. Good points though.

You could be totally right. But then what happened to nobody pays attention to message boards? When I speak of my son's abilities as a player. I do it from an infored fan's perspective. I really can't believe he's developed that much. And every time I come back from offshore, or he goes off to a camp & comes back, I see where he's continued to get just that much more impressive. He's a specimen & if he were somone else's son, I'd be all over him like when we were discussing the running back from North Mississippi last year. Except imagine if that young man from North Mississipi were 6'2" & weighed about 230 pounds. I can't help it if this guy is my son. He's strong as an oxe and runs like a buffalo. And has a hell of a vertical for pushing 300 pounds. He amazes the hell out of me. It was worth it to buy 5-6 gallons of milk a week for the past fifteen years.

And people will see that Kyle, he goes to camps, coaches will go to games, he will be found. That wasn't meant as a dig, there is a fine line. I've never been one that said nobody reads these boards. You and I know for a fact that isn't true. There are certain ways to go about things. Does a coach have to worry about you bad mouthing him on here if your son doesn't play? Does a coach have to worry about you pulling financial support of your boy isn't played the way you think? Does he have to worry about you at practice all the time? From an outside perspective....maybe things to consider. I know you mean well and just want the best for your kid but there is a line that's all I'm saying.
