The Indy Bowl is being picked dead last. Their huge national sport light will amount to an empty stadium and few trailer parks around Dekalb and Ruston.

Motor City bowl over New Orleans Bowl
If history is to be the Judge then the Indy Bowl just invited the grim ripper home. NIU doesn't travel very far. Look at the numbers for the 2004 Silicon Valley Bowl. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P3-1117018931.html
I would imagine the vast majority of the 5,000 were locals and rabbid Troy fans.
I don't blame Glen Kuprica. I hope that our administration lobbied for us as well. It just turned out that this cat served on the I-Bowl board for 11 years. I blame the I-Bowl for when it comes down to it NIU is NOT a better sell for the bowl than La Tech vs. UL. Yet they came to an agreement with NIU and buckled under the pressure of La Tech vowing to back out if we or Ark. St. were chosen. I read on La Tech's board that they were asked to rank their possible opponent and they put the two belt teams tied for last. There is nothing that we can do about it. It is our Conference and Administrations fault for not throwing a few punches to get us into that game.
My #1 question in all of this is why is Wright Waters in New York on Bowl selection weekend? Sun Belt offices are in NOLA. We have 1 team in NOLA bowl and 3 at large. Instead of maning the phones and being in the office to fight for the teams in the conference that he heads, he's MIA. We have (or had) contracts with 3 other bowls outside of the one's that FAU and Troy made and it feels like Wright Waters and his associates did not go up to bat for the rest of the conference. This guy has been unavailalbe to media all day monday. Seriously? This is your job! Address the situation, I don't want to hear a prep'd statement from your associates. I want Mr. Wright Waters to say "we just didn't get it done" or "The contracts that we signed weren't worth the paper they were printed on". And don't get me started on the lack of response by the UL athletic dept. or University on Monday. I know we should have won a 7th game. BUT so many things seem to have gone wrong and the biggest victims is our seniors who after the MTSU game thought they had one more game.
That is what I really want to know. What did or didn't our administration do? What did Wright Waters (He can we get rid this guy?) do? If I remember correctly, Troy took out newspaper ads in Silicon Valley promoting their school for that bowl. That is aggressive forward thinking. If we sat on our hands waiting .....
This is 100% fiction and it's incredibly stupid. We had presold 5K tickets for the I-Bowl. If this ultimatum was delivered (and it wasn't), NOTHING would've happened had the I-Bowl called the alleged bluff. Whether or not we were going to the Texas bowl was settled before the UL L/MTSU game.
But hey, by all means, keep perpetuating the rumor. Tech and Dooley must be the most powerful folks in all of college football...
I disagree that it is 100% fiction and about it being incredibly stupid, Johnny, YOUR head Coach/ AD said PUBLICLY that he doesn't want to lower his program to the sun belts level to play ULM! So why the hell wouldn't he do it in a closed bowl committee meeting? Were you there? I'm going to go with no, therefore you can't say that it is 100% fiction.... (what the ##ck first you call my ideas stupid then you roll your eyes at me? didn't your mom teach you any manors up there in South Arkansas?) And your probably right that nothing would have happened had the I-Bowl chosen a Belt team but it's that Dooley apparently was adamant about not playing a Sunbelt team.
Why are your own fans saying that NIU is a terrible pick?
Why are you guys even still on a UL site? Your opponent has been chosen and it's not UL, go troll the NIU sites.
It's not your idea. It's running with an internet rumor that started on OUR board. Taking it personally is just another indication of the irrationality that has set in around here.
But hey, whatever you say. Dooley is right there next to Jindal for most powerful man in Louisiana.
The myth abides...
To address a few things.
All 11 conference commissioners travel to New York on BCS selection day in part to referee disputes as an executive committee of the BCS and in part because that's where the movers and shakers and TV folks are along with a number of other bowl officials.
Johnny, I know what I was told regarding Tech's threat and the simple fact is I think it was a rank bluff and the pooh-bahs in charge were too unsophisticated to call it because your administration would have no more held firm to the bluster than they would open the doors to all students free of charge to take credit classes.
I don't think Tech wields any mystical power, I think the I-Bowl has a chairman who'd trade a cow for magic beans and then chop down the beanstalk because it blocked his view of the lake.
