Thread: Tech's Intervention

    Ragin' Cajuns Tech's Intervention

Would someone please clarify the rumors about Tech's input on the I-Bowl.

Do you really think they are the reason we are not in the I-Bowl?
I would love to know for sure.

Also if they did play a big part of keeping us out of the I-Bowl, I say 2009 Spring is the last time we schedule Tech for any sports until they get their act together and make amends, exa. like give us 2 home games for 1 return visit. For spring sports, all visits to lafayette and no return visits.

To HECK with Tech and their arrogance

It's just internet rumors right now, started on the tech board from one of their sources. But let's face it, the Indy bowl was not no way in hell having a SBC team in their bowl. End of story.

You're saying that they wouldn't have taken Troy over NIU?

Considering who they invited that would make them the stupidest people on the face of the earth. Honestly, this NIU - LaTex match up is a flat out joke.

It just goes to show you how terrible the perception of UL is. That is the most depressing thing for me.

At the end of the day, a MAC school from N. Illinois that will bring a thousand or so fans is more attractive to a bowl than UL, who would bring 15-20k.

We are the ugliest girl on the dance floor (and we're not dancing).

Don't buy the hype or the rumors. You only need to look to one place.

During my first 2 years at UL, Tech was in the Sunbelt. I remember a couple of my coaches talking about how the Tech coaches, at least in our sport, almost had a yearning to see us get screwed, some how, some way.

Did Tech play a hand in us or another Sunbelt team not going to the Indy Bowl? I truly don't know.

Do Tech coaches/athletic administrators have a history of annimosity towards UL-Lafayette, from what I've gathered, YES.

But facts is, if our team had won just one game against FAU, UTEP or Troy, they would be going bowling somewhere, no questions asked.

    Great link

After reading it I now understand that Northwestern had a better shot at the iBowl than UL did.

One other thing to consider was espn's hand in this decision. NIU is located in a much larger media market than Lafayette, therefore I think they had a hand in deciding which would garner more exposure for their advertisers.

As for Tech trying to screw the Cajuns, if the situation was reversed you guys would have tried to protect your interests just like every other school would. There is no denying that. We just happened to have the upper hand this time.

This statement is quickly becoming a cliche on this board. And btw, NONE of those three games you mentioned were close. We got beat handily in 3 of the final 4 games. Realizing this helps me cope with the fact that we didn't get in. Somehow it makes sense that we didn't deserve it.

"7 wins and we don't have this conversation" gets added to the sports cliche pile effective immediately.

I just think NIU and FAU "wanted it more"

I don't think Tech had any influence over the I-Bowl. History backs my opinion up. I think the Glen Krupica-theory is a slam dunk.
