Yes I do...So your saying that if FAU went winless we still had to beat them? Things change in the Belt every year and the fact is we had a better Conference record then they did and would bring more fans then Atlantic. I know what you are getting at and to some point I agree w/ you. It's just hard to understand why we are in the position were in...
Well, i think my point about our conference rankings is made by virtue of what just happened. And no, I don't think that if FAU goes even 5-7 that they are even in this conversation, for obvious reasons. I just really really really don't think we can rationalize this as if bowl selection committees have rules to follow according to conference ranks, they pounded us plain and simple on the field.
I would like to see what positive spin the Sun Belt puts on the Bowl selection debacle. Seems there are a lot of questions. Why FAU (4th place) over UL (2nd place)? What happened to the "iron clad" contract with the Independence Bowl that would have prevented a 6-6 MAC school being selected over a 6-6 Sun Belt school? What role did the Sun Belt office have in the Bowl selections? What did the UL athletic department do over the last several days with the various Bowl committees? Were the players and coaches informed that UL had been selected to a Bowl? If so, who told them that and why? Was Tech involved in the selection of the Indy Bowl opponent? If so, what was that involvement? Why would the Indy Bowl (without a title sponsor) pass on a school that would have sold over 20,000 tickets and been a boon to the local economy? Why would a struggling Bowl cut it's nose despite it's face? Does the Independence Bowl receive any state funding? If so, the Acadiana delegation should put a stop to it!
The selection of Northern Illinois makes absolutely no sense!!! I cannot comprehend that selection on a logical basis. Before I totally write off anything from North Louisiana, I have to know if Tech was actually involved. If so, how paranoid and short sighted they have become!
