Reasons I think we are.....

in, is that believe it or not we are marketable to bowls.

1. geographic location to 3 bowls. Shreveport, Houston, and Birmingham
2. Tyrell Fenroy
3. Mike Desormeaux
4. Alone in 2nd place in the Sun Belt
5. Lead the Sun Belt in attendence
6. We can and do travel well for post season events, see recent history
7. Our offense numbers are nationally ranked
8. The name RAGIN CAJUNS!
9. Outside of Notre Dame and North Carolina St. the 2 bowls we are competing against are Ark St., San Jose St., Fla Atl., North Ill., and Bowling Green.

Then the pool of remaining 6 and 6 teams you mentioned.

After these 3 teams are placed, how many bowls are left open?

I'm not confident... Cajuns always seem to get screwed... But I am very hopeful. With everything happening that we said needed to happen... the stars MAY be aligning!

I am confident that IF the Cajuns get this shot, we will PLEASANTLY SURPRISE the bowl and their committees/organizers by the number of fans we bring. This could be a turning point...

I'm thinking WM to Hawaii. NC State to Papa Johns. ND to INDY, Motor, or Texas.

Cajuns would have a shot at the TWO bowls left where ND is not going - hopefully Texas and INDY. Schools to be left out... FOUR 6-6 teams will be left out... FAU, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, San Jose State, or maybe Ark State... but hopefully Ark State or FAU would be invited somewhere (after the Cajuns)...

Only thing that can mess things up is if Notre Dame suddenly makes the decision that they prefer Houston over Hawaii.

Here's the thing, Houston is on the NFL Network. A game featuring Notre Dame means more pressure on cable operators to add NFL Net. It's to ESPN advantage to keep Notre Dame off NFL Network so they will sweeten the pot for Hawaii. As long as Notre Dame accepts, it all falls into place.

If ND goes to the beach, the Cajuns will go to Houston and bring a freakin' army of Cajun fans with them.

I tried to go to the INdy Bowl website to see the makeup of their selection committee to see if any of the usual politcal names popped up but their site is not fully functioning for some of the menu links. One thing I did notice that amused me is while we hear the Indy Bowl doesn't want UL thier 2008 sportsperson of the year is UL alum BJ Ryan.

Maybe BJ should be informed of the Bowl's reluctence to extend a bid to his alma mater.

Texas or Indy would be great for me. Both within driving distance. I would prefer Texas since there is more to do in Houston and we have a lot more alumni there than Shreveport.
