Vancleave running back Walter Williams almost committed on the spot when Louisiana coach Mark Hudspeth offered him a football scholarship on June 4.

Less than two weeks later, Williams followed through with his first inclination, giving his verbal commitment to play for the Ragin' Cajuns.
