The fact that the Superdome was covered in Red last year should also make the Cajuns more attractive to a host committee. I wonder what the TV viewership was for the NOLA bowl vs other similar quality bowls? In other words, while it is obvious that a lot of tickets were sold were the advertisers on tv happy as well?

Pass on the NO Bowl for the 4th straight year if possible. This year, we better listen if someone else is interested. ....unlike last year.

Bowls are contracted to various leagues. If there are at large slots open at the end of the season, it's doubtful any of the openings would be any better or more prestigious than New Orleans.

The only way you get into a big time bowl is to run the table and be the highest rated school not in the big five conferences.

Barring that, New Orleans, Camellia or GoDaddy would be the most likely choices.

Camellia Bowl looks to be a pretty lame deal. Mobile is a fun place but we would probably play, at best, Ball State or Bowling Green and that would ensure mighty low tv viewership and also be mighty depressing if it follows another good year. Between the Camellia, Go Daddy and NOLA Bowls it seems the NOLA bowl should be the choice and it would seem like they would want us back after the last three years of dramatically improving attendance and energy. Obviously a perfect season followed by a Rose Bowl invite would be the best.

If I understand the system correctly, all of the conferences have tie-in's to certain Bowl games, unless there are not enough qualified teams to fill all of their games. So it appears to me that unless the Cajuns finish the season as the highest rated non-BCS (or whatever we are called now days) team, and get the automatic berth in the new system, we will be locked into one of the Bowl games that the Sun Belt is tied into. The chances are slim, but when a conference doesn't fill its obligations, the dominoes start to fall. I may be giving us too much credit, but I don't see many teams that would be available to fill those spots being any more attractive than us.

But we will be invited to one of our bowls (specifically NOLA) as soon as we get win #6. We wouldn't know if this scenerio would happen untill the season is over. So unless we are undefeated at win number six we pretty much have to accept.

Win the sunbelt and you don't have to accept right away. The NOLA bowl will wait. We have to roll the dice at some point. We can't be delusional like LaTech, but if we jump to accept the NOLA bowl every year, it will be our fault for not going to a bigger bowl, not that no one offered.

-----Can anyone possibly have wanted to go to S-Port??? First they have screwed us in the past---second their venue sucks----third the fan support is so much better in N O----The # of recruits in South La and the N O area is so important and I KNOW we have turned heads and helped tremendously in getting our name in the spotlight!!! Thank God we did what we did last year!!! Now I don't think that we are aligned to the N O Bowl this year--am I correct???

Other than the Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Capital One, Outback and maybe one or two more that will never have an open spot, what other Bowls would realistically be bigger than the NOLA Bowl? Especially when considering location and expense involved.

IMO, the NO Bowl needs us more than we need them. They would wait as long as possible before passing on us if we have options.
