Thread: Trent Richardson

    Default Trent Richardson

I remember reading somewhere that Trent Richardson went to the Troy-UL game to watch his older brother (Terrell Richardson) play. Do the Cajun coaches even consider offering a player of his calibur?

I mean, I know that he probably won't commit to UL since he is one of the Top 2 running back prospects in the nation, but with the family connection does the coaching staff seriously give a player like him an offer?
(or do they think that he would never come here, so why bother?)

He could come in and start 4 years, break all of the records, help recruit additional highly rated players, and still get drafted! (just like Fenroy...all while playing with his brother for 2 more years)

    Just a thought!

I believe Cajun T told me that he attended camp here this summer and was offered.

    Cajun T, am I correct?

I wrote during the weekend of the Troy-UL game that Trent would be at the game. That was after talking with Terrell in the lobby of the hotel the night before the game.

At that time, Terrell said Trent was committed to Alabama but still considering LSU. He did not expect for him to end up as a Cajun.

Maybe this is why Saban came to be a guest speaker at the ul camp this summer? at least I read that he was supposed to speak at it

UL Football Terrelle Richardson in Baton Rouge

Terrelle was in Baton Rouge this past weekend with his brother Trent Richardson who was making at least his second visit to LSU. If you aren't familiar with Trent, he's one of the top running backs in the nation. Although he says LSU is in thick of things, I expect he will either stick with his commitment to Alabama or change his commitment to Florida. Now, back to the topic of this thread. What kind of player is Terrelle? Does he have a bright future in Lafayette? Was he offered by any other mid-major schools? It sounded as if LSU had at least minimal interest in him according to an article I read. Thanks.

If the tiggers approached him in any way with regard to playing football at LSU, it is a MAJOR NCAA violation. One that can get you 3 years probation and loss of scholarships.

I doubt they said anything to him.

No, they obviously didn't approach him about playing for LSU. I'm talking about when he was coming out of HIGH SCHOOL he apparently had some contact with LSU. No offense, but I think LSU is doing just find not being forced to pursue players from other state universities.

Don't kid yourself. To get a talent like the younger Richardson, lsu would give a scholarship to his grandmother.

That being said, I did misunderstand your initial post.

Terrell is a solid player for us with a lot of upside. He is a large DE for us at about 255 and he will probably be about 270 before he leaves. He is pretty quick and athletic and will be needed to rush the QB. I think he has the most upside of any player on the DL we have. Unfortunately for us, you will probably not see his full potential until his senior season as it seems like he has a lot of improvement to go. Neither of our DL are very good pass rushers at this point and they rarely get to the QB. Our sack leader from last year was an OLB who didn't start.
