I'm putting my money on Dawgs vs Cajuns in Shreveport. That will get press in THIS state but not others. It will pack the stands but will have low TV viewership.
The I-bowl first said that they'd take the cajuns if they were eligible. Then they crawfished and said they won't take a SBC team if possible.
Now it looks like they have no choice.
Notre Dame is probably headed to Houston. It's "officially unofficial" on their board, for what that's worth.
Southern Miss is going to NO.
NC State would rather go to PapaJohns or Motor City (likely 1 of the two).
The I-bowl would love to have Memphis but the CUSA has to trade to get them out of a CUSA slot. There are talks about a trade with Memphis for FAU in the St. Pete bowl.
The wildcard is Western Michigan. SOMEBODY has to take them....and it may be the Ibowl. It's unclear as to how it works but NCAA politics are probably involved.
If the I-bowl isn't FORCED to take WMU (and they don't want them), and the Memphis-FAU trade doesn't go down, then the I-bowl wants to take the cajuns. I think this is likely.
Ark state may still get one, and San Jose state may still get one, depending on the outcome of Ariz/Ariz St and Troy/Ark St games.
But just keep in mind that one of these at large spots MUST go to WMU. If there are more at large spots, it lessens the likelyhood of them ending up in the Indy.
At this point I don't really care if it's Memphis or the cajuns but I don't want WMU.
