    UL Football bowl revenue sharing...

Does the SBC have a revenue sharing program like the SEC? From the way I understand it, all bowl revenue for the SEC is pooled and distributed evenly to the member schools...

The reason I ask is that the Indy Bowl pays 3 times as much as the N.O. Bowl, so all of the people wishing for N.O. need to realize that the Indy bowl is a better deal for UL, unless the revenues are shared...

Except for the BCS Bowls and a couple of New Years Bowls, the payouts are illusionary. The bowls don't actually pay out anything but a small guarentee. The participating schools must sell tickets to get any payout. Most schools lose money on bowl games.

Our revenue is dependent on the amount of fans that we can bring in through ticket sales. New Orleans would easily have the highest ticket sales, thus resulting in what is probably a better revenue for the Cajuns. I think we could also travel extremely well to Houston because of the large Alumni base and short distance for Lafayette travellers. While Shreveport has the highest guarantee, it would have to lowest ticket sales by far. Much fewer people will travel to Shreveport than New Orleans or Houston.

i dont see why, its about the same distance and its an easier drive, out of the three id prefer Shreveport simply because its an easy drive.

Just letting everyone know, we can't go to the N.O. Bowl. It's either ASU or Troy, whom ever wins saturday goes. So its either Houston, Bama, or Shreveport for us.

But what if we somehow get "stuck" with Hawai'i? That wouldn't be too bad for the seniors! But it might put a dent in the Cajun following.

Actually, I'm OK with any of the 3 we are really in the running for. All of them are within a reasonable drive for most Cajun fans. Therefore, if we are invited, we should have a large group to travel to the game wherever it is.

Probably not! But I think most of us want to be able to actually attend our first bowl game in almost 4 decades!

In this economy, taking UL is far and away the smartest political play for Shreveport.

From a tourism dollar standpoint, an ASU invite gives them a better shot at cracking a little bit into Tunica's dominance of the central Arkansas casino customer market. I've already had two different couples here who are regulars at Tunica tell me they'd like to combo watching ASU and checking out the casinos.

Still I think the Cajuns are the smarter play just like the Big Three execs taking hybrids to Washington this go-round.
