Scout is still basing their projection of Louisiana vs. Louisiana Tech and FAU to the pizza bowl on our auxilliary bowl tie-ins with the Sun Belt, but the 2 bowls are denying their obligation to the Sun Belt if these teams are 6-6. So it's hard to put any stock in that projection.

I bet the Independence Bowl accepts a 6-6 9presumably) Arkansas St. over UL. I bet that behind closed doors, La. Tech said they'd take the Independence Bowl invite only if Louisiana wasn't involved. Hope I'm an idiot on this one.

Help me understand this. WHY would be want to play in the Toilet Bowl in the first place? A night out on the town in Shreveport is less appealing than a wake the night before a squirrels funeral.

Hey if you like to gamble, they have casinos.

ANY bowl game will do for me.

I've also heard that La Tech doesn't want to play us. Not sure why. If they are so confident that they'd win they should be begging to play us. Win a bowl game in your home state against an old rival. They would have that to rub in our face for a long while

I'm not sure when La Tech became so high and mighty with refusing to play Monroe, then (from what I've heard) refusing to play in the I-Bowl if a Sun Belt team is selected, and now word that they refuse to play us. I'm not so sure how La Tech got on their high horse but I would think they would actually do something to have gotten this snobby "better than thee" attitude.

They don't want to play us because they feel that playing us will be taking a step down for their competition. They feel that if they were to play a Notre Dame or a NC State instead, it would look better as far as recruiting and national recognition if they were to win. Personally, I would love to play them and shut their _____es up by beating them in front of the whole country. As for playing ULM, they feel threatened. I don't care what any Techster says, they are scared to lose to them. Financially, it's genius to play them because it's an automatic sellout in both stadiums. I guess Tech likes how pretty the blue tarp looks in the stands. I mean, they are bragging about selling tickets fast at the Independence Bowl yet we have a higher attendance average than their "prestigious" program does.

if I bowl takes a 6-6 non sbc team the sbc should sue them for breach of contract and if they don't hten sbc really is no better than being independant. I'd rather be independant than in a division that doesn't even back up its teams or pursues actions when it is wronged.

The difference there is the money payout that comes from being in a conference. The university would be at an even bigger disadvantage without a conference affiliation.

    Untrue -

I have it on good authority that if its a SBC team in the I-Bowl vs us it will be the Cajuns -

In fact - most information I have heard is that Tech would rather have the Cajuns over a MAC school - WMU or NIU.

Of course their first choices are NCSt or Memphis

It won't be Memphis now that they will be going to St. Petersburg.

And according to I-Bowl officials, they want to remain geographic. Who's more geographic for the I-Bowl, UL or NCSU?

I think they want a BCS first - which will generate local interest against TECH - next inline would be a recognizable regional CUSA school to generate interest - then I think it would be regional other school to drive ticket sales (i.e. ya'll)

    I was just clarifying a misstatement -

I have been one of the few that has said we could end up STILL end up playing a SBC school -

I'm not on the bowl committee and don't have a vote -

    Just passing along information -

BTW - I think a Dog Cajun matchup pops 40,000+ through the gates or close to it -

I don't see them taking AState or FAU over ya'll if it comes down to a SBC school -

I think that'd be a big game for the cajuns. close enough to drive. good times

I am in. I love the matchup, and the drive.
If they pick up I am ready to get a couple room and a bunch of ticktes
I can see bus loads of Cajun fans going
