Ok futbol fans, I watched Uruguay/England delayed on DVR from Univision. Uruguay's second goal, was he offsides? I ran it back and forth and he never seemed onside. Don't care who won, just wondering if anyone saw that or watched on ESPN.

Found the discussion on line. According to a FIFA amendment to the laws of the game he was off. Good explination in second link. I understand it correctly, even though Gerrard headed it, being it was a challenged ball made o/s the call missed? I picked Holland from the start, so this one doesn't matter...lol.

I think this injury is worse than people are letting on. I don't think you will see Altidore back at all to be honest. IMO, it would be better to bring on a Donovan or Eddie Johnson now and give them time to get fit to play as I don't think we can rely on Johannson in that role

I understand as a target player, he is invaluable. My argument is, this is not basketball and the attacking third is not the post. If JK is truly trying to evolve the style with which we play, using skill rather than brute force to win is only a matter of time. We've typical had to play that "American" style because we just didn't have the quality to play a free flowing, attack-for-attack kind of match. The natural progression is to supplement these older guys used to playing the brute force style is to get these younger, skilled players from a new generation on the pitch and let them grow up. Results are of the essence, or at least that's the way I believe JK sees it.

Take it with a grain of salt. On paper, they have the potential. Realizing it is something completely different. But I'm with you, the kids have to grow up quickly.

I think POR might be the biggest match in American modern futbol history for a few reasons. In the short term, it'll probably make Germany rest guys, which in turn, we'll let Jurgen get more pups some playing time, because both teams would be threw with AMR win over POR.

Also, it will surely prove that JK decisions and direction of the club going forward is working. Or at least cultivate a belief that it is, breeding more confidence and giving him more time to implement.

If we manage to beat POR, I hope we push hard for a win vs. Germany. Avoiding Belguim and playing Russia/Korea instead could mean the difference between going to the quarterfinals and going home.

Not sure why Americans act like the Sweet 16 is the ultimate - as if we're a mid-major. I guess we are, but still.
