I seriously doubt there will be as much as 27000 people at the Independence Bowl. Now, they may announce 40000, but they will be lying

So far it looks like this team will be offensively challenged. We will have to ramp up the defensive intensity so we can get some easy baskets on the other end..
You have a very short but astute analysis of yesterday's game in that post. Your comment about needing easy baskets cause by defense is also spot in. I am hoping Adeife can help with that once conference play starts.

I hate playing this game with the confidence factor. Too much thinking for me. Hard enough just picking straight up.

It won't let me join anyway, b/c the league I created for my work on ESPN.com for this game is not using the confidence factor. Ya'll have fun!

Half of that 15K (based on your idea that 1/2 drive back that night) is a lot more than all 3K from NIU.

UL -- Distance isn't a problem (200 miles and three hours in the car). Flying isn't a concern. Timing isn't as big an issue for most fans either because most are within driving distance to the game. To this point Lafayette and Louisiana in general have weathered the financial crisis better than most and the economy will not be at the forefront of many Cajun fans decision making.

As for the Cajun fans fleeing the game immediately after the final horn I doubt that will be true. Sure some will make the drive back home but I seriously doubt that many will want to be on the road that late. This game more than likely does not conclude until after 10:00 P.M. and realistically you aren't back to Lafayette (most of the fan base) until probably 3:00 A.M.

I'll be trying to find out in the coming weeks what the NIU ticket sells are like. My bet is that this is probably the final time we see the Independence Bowl played.
I don't think NIU sends any more than 1000 to the game. We used to play them when we were in the Big West and they did not draw very well then. It is simply too far away and Shreveport not enough of a destination city for their fans to travel.

You can count one 1AA (or FCS if you like) win every year now.

I was actually following it on espn gamecast and we were with them until about 7 or 5 minutes left in the game when they busted it open to a 16 point margin. This team doesn't seem to finish very well aside from the ORU game. If we could just play 35 minute games we'll be alright. haha

I listened on the radio online. For the most part we seemed to match up well physically at least until Barr fouled out, but horrible shooting killed us. Both our FG and FT shooting were abysmal. We won't win too many games shooting like that. Most of the other stats were pretty even for about 2/3 of the game. That last 7 or 8 minutes we seemed to go down too easily. It sounded like we were rebounding fairly well until later in the game. Defensively, again we seemed to do fairly well until later on. The shooting woes are a major problem especially since we seem to have trouble running an effective half-court game.

All's I'm saying is that the Shreveport Walmart better stock up on its FEMA tarp, there's gonna be a big run, particularly on the Tech blue.

What I want to know is why Courtney Wallace only played 3 minutes? He seemed to play well against McNeese giving Barr a rest. We don't even try to work the ball down low. I'm no coach but if we work the ball down low every once in awhile, that might free up Bureau for more shots. And Tyren Johnson only had 1 point. Another puzzling thing is Lago and McCoy split time down the middle (18 minutes). Lago had 4 turnovers to McCoy's 0. I think McCoy should get the majority of the minutes at point. I've never understood coach Lee's starting rosters or his substitution habits. From the games i've actually seen, the offense runs so much better with McCoy yet Lago starts every game and splits the time.
