Yep, many Cajun Fans have traveled to watch bowl games, but we also travel to games UL plays in(not only football) much better than most every Louisiana and Belt team!(that includes tech).
We will catch Tech in #of Bowl games and pass you as we have in Most every sport to date. Ruston just does not have the resources Acadiana has and Louisiana is starting to tap into them in a big way. Watch, read, listen and learn the Fire is getting hot in Cajun Country!!!
I used to travel those parts a lot... and the ladies up there seemed to like it... a lot.
Seriously... again... I think we'd travel well to the Indy Bowl, considering the circumstances. Dare I ask... who exactly travels better than us to Tech? I lived "up there" for 3 years and made a whole lot of Tech games in all sports... don't recall a better visitor than the Cajuns.
I'm bracing for the news... in either case. I hope our administration is working this appropriately. They need to make all the guarantees and some, and let us fans pony up any shortfalls. There isn't a chance in the world that we cannot outbid others for our first big show in nearly half a century.
The way I see it... people keep saying programs lose money on bowls... well, we should have a pretty good nest egg set aside after 38 years!!!
If someone hasn't selected Western Michigan (I believe Independence will as soon as they concede Notre Dame and NC State aren't coming) by time for the show, Independence, PJ, Hawaii, Texas and Motor City won't be determined until the lottery later in the day.
If Independence does as I expect after the BCS draw confirms what we know (two from Big XII two from SEC), they will invite La.Tech and WMU.
Once WMU is out of the way the other bowls can proceed. I expect Notre Dame to go to Hawaii, they've got the money to afford it, ESPN can justify sweetening the pot, and no snowballs for their fans to throw, with Notre Dame off the table expect Louisiana to be invited to Texas, NC State to Birmingham and Motor City to select either ASU, San Jose State, or FAU. Unless SJSU or FAU elects to sweeten the pot and throw a wad of money, I expect ASU to be selected.
You guys are going to a bowl, tried to tell you that last night.
Only thing that can mess things up is if Notre Dame suddenly makes the decision that they prefer Houston over Hawaii.
Here's the thing, Houston is on the NFL Network. A game featuring Notre Dame means more pressure on cable operators to add NFL Net. It's to ESPN advantage to keep Notre Dame off NFL Network so they will sweeten the pot for Hawaii. As long as Notre Dame accepts, it all falls into place.
Hey Arkstfan what of your chances? Where do they lay?
Geaux Cajuns
I think most Louisiana fans want to play LPI every year in football, too.
If Notre Dame is more stupid than I thought, they will go to Houston and get beat by RICE.
I don't think they are that stupid. They are going to go to Hawaii for a little R&R.
Now, we are left with the question of the Indy Bowl and the Texas Bowl and where the Cajuns go.
One of them will have a nice crowd for the television cameras(the one where the Cajuns go), and one of them will have an empty stadium(the one that doesn't get the Cajuns).
I believe both bowls know this, but the the Indy Bowl is a political cesspool.
If ND goes to the beach, the Cajuns will go to Houston and bring a freakin' army of Cajun fans with them.
