Seriously, your words concerning Bustle would sure explain a lot of mistifying things that happenned to this team down the stretch. _

I have been saying for a long time that the SBC is a bush league conference with a commissioner to match. That is our perception nationally and it will never change. Someone has to be the low end of the totem pole and it will always be the SBC. Our commissioner does not look out for us, so what good does it do to be in this conference? For a bowl appearance or an NCAA bid? Only if we win the conference. Anything else is suspect. I really wonder if UL isn't better off making its mark as an independent in an effort ot make us more attractive when conference reallignment takes place. Every team in the SBC will want out and we will all be competing for a few select slots. We might be better as an independent marketing ourselves as UL and Louisiana. The SBC won't call us that and that also hurts our cause. I'm sure scheduling won't be a problem. And what has automatic bids done for us lately?

Gonna be a lot of travel in the SEC East though. No way LSU allows them into the west and those roadies to South Carolina are going to take it's toll on Tech's athletic budget!

You really wonder? As much as you hate the SBC you really ought to be glad we're in it because going independent is certain death for us. Ask any AD at any school that needs a good supply of Homecoming opponents.

_ Schedule 2 FCS schools. One won't count, (hopefully) for sure we wouldn't lose. Therefore, if you win 6 games, you will finish 6-5.

The language in the contract mentions having "a winning record," not "7 wins"

I don't think that would work. Plus, I think it would be pretty pathetic. Interesting thinking though. _

Clemson played 2 D1AA schools this year and became bowl eligible. Now they won 7 games so they just needed to use one of them to be bowl eligible.

_ Yeah, what were we all thinking? I echo the previous poster, that if we couldn't get, y'all should've. I find it absurd that NONE of the 3 bowls we had "secondary tie-ins" with went with a Sunbelt team, even though they went with 6-6 teams. That is unbelievable, given what we were told by the league that we had in our "agreement". _
