What I meant was market the school to the bowl committees "NOW." Don't let them forget you exist for a second. Get on the horn 24/7 let them know they can't lose by picking UL.

_ At-large teams had to wait for the games to end tonight first, since Zona St could have become bowl eligible. Plus, WMU HAS to accept an at-large bowl bid first before ANY of the other 6-6 teams can. And they have not yet. I have a feeling that all of these bowls, and the 9 schools are all doing some wheeling and dealing tonight overnight, and deals will be made tomorrow early (by midday). Announcements will be made soon after. _

Plus, WMU HAS to RECEIVE an at-large bowl bid first before ANY of the other 6-6 teams can.

_ I'm bracing for the news... in either case. I hope our administration is working this appropriately. They need to make all the guarantees and some, and let us fans pony up any shortfalls. There isn't a chance in the world that we cannot outbid others for our first big show in nearly half a century.

The way I see it... people keep saying programs lose money on bowls... well, we should have a pretty good nest egg set aside after 38 years!!! _

I don't think they are that stupid. They are going to go to Hawaii for a little R&R.

Now, we are left with the question of the Indy Bowl and the Texas Bowl and where the Cajuns go.

One of them will have a nice crowd for the television cameras(the one where the Cajuns go), and one of them will have an empty stadium(the one that doesn't get the Cajuns).

I believe both bowls know this, but the the Indy Bowl is a political cesspool.

If ND goes to the beach, the Cajuns will go to Houston and bring a freakin' army of Cajun fans with them. _

I tried to go to the INdy Bowl website to see the makeup of their selection committee to see if any of the usual politcal names popped up but their site is not fully functioning for some of the menu links. One thing I did notice that amused me is while we hear the Indy Bowl doesn't want UL thier 2008 sportsperson of the year is UL alum BJ Ryan.

Maybe BJ should be informed of the Bowl's reluctence to extend a bid to his alma mater.

The Cajuns would have no problem selling our ticket allotment. We averaged more then Tech did at home, without the blue tarps. LOL!!!!!

I would have hoped that the Governor's office would put some pressure on the I Bowl to select an in state team. Keep the money in the state, blah, blah, blah. I know this isn't Bobby's top priority but he should be able to do more than one thing at a time.

We've seen examples of other governors (Virginia) pitching in when a state school needs a hand.

Texas or Indy would be great for me. Both within driving distance. I would prefer Texas since there is more to do in Houston and we have a lot more alumni there than Shreveport.
